[Song] Ingestion of decoctions or pills damages fetal Qi, causing attacking pain in the abdomen and inducing panic. First, frequently administer Gan Dou Tang (Sweet Bean Decoction). The combination of Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena Rhizome), Xiong Gui (Ligusticum Chuanxiong and Angelica Sinensis) can also be tried.
[Discussion] Xue Lizhai stated: If toxic substances are ingested during pregnancy causing fetal restlessness, a concentrated decoction of Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Hei Dou (Black Soybean), and Dan Zhu Ye (Lophatherum Herb) should be taken to resolve the toxicity. If there is a fall or trauma, use E Jiao San (Donkey-Hide Gelatin Powder) to deliver Zhi Mu Wan (Anemarrhena Pill). If there is vaginal bleeding with abdominal pain, Fo Shou San (Buddha's Hand Powder) or Zi Mu Wan (Mother-Child Pill) should be used. If blood loss is excessive, Ba Zhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) with Yi Mu Cao (Motherwort Herb) should be administered.
[Formulas]
E Jiao San (Donkey-Hide Gelatin Powder)
Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), E Jiao (Colla Corii Asini), Ai Ye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus Rotundus).
Zhi Mu Wan (Anemarrhena Pill)
Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) (roasted, powdered).
Made into pills the size of a bullet using jujube flesh. Each time, dissolve one pill before ingestion.
Bai Bian Dou San (White Hyacinth Bean Powder)
Bai Bian Dou (Dolichoris Lablab Semen Album) (raw, powdered).
Take three qian per dose, mixed with rice water.
[Song] Vaginal discharge of watery fluid during pregnancy is called "Gu Jiang" (Orphaned Fluid). This results from weak Spleen Qi, deficient Yuan Qi, and damaged Qi and Blood. Early administration of Huang Qi Nu Mi Tang (Astragalus and Glutinous Rice Decoction) prevents separation of mother and child.
[Discussion] *Mai Jing* (Pulse Classic) states: When a woman is six or seven months pregnant, if she suddenly discharges more than a dou of water, the fetus will inevitably descend. This is called premature discharge of "Gu Jiang" out of season, caused by deficiency of both Qi and Blood. Dai Qizong (Jin Dynasty physician) stated: If during pregnancy yellow juice resembling glue or bean dregs is suddenly discharged, accompanied by fetal restlessness and abdominal pain, this formula is appropriate.
Huang Qi Nu Mi Tang (Astragalus and Glutinous Rice Decoction)
Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (six liang, stir-fried), Nu Mi (Oryza Sativa Var. Glutinosa).
Another version includes Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma). Boil seven sheng of water down to three sheng, divide into four doses. Take three times during the day and once at night.
[Song] It is said that the "Ghost Fetus" presents with an abdomen swollen like a jar, a bluish complexion, and a choppy pulse, with the abdomen feeling cold as ice. Use Xiong Huang Zhan Gui Ban Xuan San (Realgar Ghost-Slaying Banxuan Powder); this was passed down by ancient sages as a lamp in the dark room.
[Discussion] When the internal organs are harmonious and Qi and Blood are abundant, wind pathogens and demonic influences cannot invade. However, if Ying and Wei Qi are deficient and spirit is weak, demons and spirits may enter the internal organs. The condition resembles pregnancy and is named "Ghost Fetus." Yu Tianmin stated: Ghost Fetus arises from mental thoughts; what is pondered by day appears in dreams by night. Individuals with licentious nature and physical deficiency experience constant rising of Ministerial Fire in the Liver and Kidney, leading to consumptive diseases. People often dream of intercourse with ghosts, hence the term "ghost" forming a fetus. There is no actual ghost; rather, spiritual interaction creates the fetus. Thus, endless thinking and unfulfilled desires lead to white leukorrhea and turbid urine, flowing into the uterus and condensing into a Ghost Fetus. It is essentially the accumulation of the woman's own blood and essence forming a mass.
