Answer: When Yang deficiency fails to transport Yin, Qi lacks Yin to clear its Yang, causing Yang to dominate alone and generate heat. When Yin deficiency fails to transport Yang, Qi lacks Yang to harmonize its Yin, causing Yin to dominate alone and generate cold (Jue). Therefore, when the two Qi (Yin and Yang) are harmonious, the Qi mechanism is smooth; when urination and defecation are unobstructed, the Qi pathway is patent. Now, with constipation of both urine and stool, it clearly indicates the solitary dominance of Yin pathogenic factors. If a person has excess Qi in the Fu and Zang organs generating heat, disease forms according to where the heat accumulates. If heat binds in the Large Intestine, defecation is obstructed; if heat binds in the Small Intestine, urination is obstructed. If both urine and stool are bound by heat, there will be irritability, fullness, and closure of both excretions. Excessive heat causes rebellious Qi in the Stomach and Intestines, while cold transforms into vomiting.

Once, a pregnant woman had abdominal distension, difficult urination, and vomiting. Various physicians administered medicines for warming the Spleen and Stomach, moving Qi, and reducing distension. After taking them, she vomited more, could not retain medicine or food, and the distension worsened, pressing on the Heart. Verification revealed the fetus had died in the womb. Other abortifacient medicines failed to resolve it, causing family panic. Then, the treatise on Liyu Tang (Carp Decoction) was consulted: "Foot swelling is commonly called 'wrinkled feet'; if the whole body is swollen and the chest and abdomen are tight and distended, it is called Taishui (Fetal Water)." The clothes over the pregnant woman's chest were removed for examination, revealing indistinct boundaries between chest and abdomen. She urgently took 4-5 doses of Liyu Tang. Both urine and stool discharged foul water, swelling subsided, distension resolved, and she was finally able to deliver the dead fetus. This was a fortunate survival. This condition arises because the abdomen enlarges during pregnancy, which the mother does not perceive; everyone assumes this is normal for pregnancy and never considers it Taishui disease. How can physicians know? Thus, this treatise is written. Patients' families should be self-aware.

If Taishui is not completely expelled, take again.
