The method for stabilizing the fetus primarily focuses on nourishing blood and qi, and regulating the Spleen and Stomach. Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) tonifies Spleen Qi to cultivate the "Mother of All Things" (Spleen as the root of post-heaven existence); Tiaohuangqin (Scutellariae Radix) secures the Middle Jiao and drains Fire Qi, thereby nourishing the Yin of the uterus, preventing Fire from moving recklessly, thus regarded as a sacred herb for fetal stabilization. Amomi Fructus stabilizes the fetus due to its ability to relieve pain and promote Qi circulation. Overwork, mental strain, anger, and Fire arising from emotional desires can all induce abortion. Tracing to the root, all are caused by Heat. Fire consumes things; this is the natural order of creation. Ancient formulas claimed that Wind-Cold injuring the uterus causes abortion, which fails to understand the true nature of the disease.

For women with a history of habitual abortion, if there is dysfunction of Middle Qi and poor appetite, one need not prioritize nourishing blood; instead, first regulate the Spleen and Stomach, then administer Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) to allow Blood and Qi to generate naturally. If the fetus is disturbed due to the mother's illness, treat only the mother's illness, and the fetus will stabilize naturally. If the mother's illness arises due to fetal pathology, stabilize the fetus, and the mother's illness will heal itself.

Fetuses often abort around the third month. At this time, the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin governs the nourishment of the fetal origin. Mental exertion and excessive worry cause deficiency in the Pericardium Meridian, which fails to nourish the fetus, leading to abortion. Treatment should simultaneously control Fire, using Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Yuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Baizhu, and Tiaohuangqin.

If the left pulse is weak, accompanied by body pain, night fever, lower back pain, and fetal restlessness, it belongs to Blood Deficiency. Use Siwu Tang added with Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex), Huangqin, Baizhu, and Qinjiao (Gentianae Radix et Rhizoma).

If the right pulse at the Cun and Guan positions is large but forceless, resembling Slippery but not smooth, accompanied by fatigue and reluctance to speak or move, it belongs to Qi Deficiency. Use Buzhong Yiqi Tang added with Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Duzhong, and Tiaohuangqin.

If pulses in both hands are weak, and the fetus frequently feels like falling, it belongs to Dual Deficiency of Qi and Blood. Use Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) added with Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus), Duzhong, Xuduan (Dipsaci Radix), Tiaohuangqin, and Baizhu.

If a pregnant woman suddenly experiences abdominal pain, use Foshou San (Buddha's Hand Powder, composed of Danggui and Chuanxiong, see *Mi Yao*) alone, decocted with sticky rice water.

If a pregnant woman passes red fluid, it belongs to Blood Deficiency with Fire. The standard treatment uses Zihuangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), and Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma) decocted and taken orally. In acute or special cases, use Yinzhu Jiu (Silver and Ramie Root Wine).

Formula: Zhugen (Boehmeriae Caulis et Folium, remove black skin and crush, 5 qian), Baiyin (Silver, 1 liang). Decoct with half water and half wine, then take orally.

Another method: Take Zhugen, about one chi long and as thick as a toe, decoct and take orally, and the condition will heal. Danxi stated that Zhugen can nourish Blood and resolve stagnation.

During pregnancy, one should nourish Blood, augment Qi, strengthen the Spleen, and clear Fire. One should commonly consume Gutai Yin (Stabilize Fetus Drink).
