Zhenque Nao Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong, 1 liang) and Danggui (Angelica Sinensis, whole root, 7 qian), ground into fine powder. Divided into two doses. Take with one cup of thickly decocted Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin) soup, mixed with wine. After taking the medicine, if movement is felt in the umbilical and abdominal region after two to three shichen (4-6 hours), this indicates pregnancy. Once the movement ceases, health is restored, safe and without worry. If not pregnant, there will be no fetal movement, and retained pathogenic substances will discharge spontaneously. If no sensation is felt after one dose, decoct Honghua (Carthamus Tinctorius) soup and take it mixed with wine. One dose will surely be effective.
Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis, peeled), Zhigancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata, each 1 qian), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 5 fen), ground into powder. Take mixed with warm wine. If pregnant, vomiting occurs; if not pregnant, no vomiting occurs. Another method: for amenorrhea lasting three months, use Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong, 3 qian) ground into powder, taken mixed with Mugwort (Artemisia Argyi) soup. After taking the medicine, slight movement is felt in the abdomen after one shichen (2 hours); if not pregnant, there is no movement. Generally, if the Chi pulse (Kidney pulse at the wrist) is harmonious but menstruation has ceased, it indicates pregnancy. In cases of amenorrhea due to obstruction, the pulse is likely irregular or absent.
For women from childhood, before the onset of Tiangui (menstrual essence/physiological phenomena), the condition belongs to the Shaoyin (Lesser Yin) channel; after Tiangui begins, it belongs to the Jueyin (Terminal Yin) channel; after Tiangui ceases, it belongs to the Taiyin (Greater Yin) channel. Regarding nourishing the fetus during pregnancy, it begins with the Jueyin channel because Zongqi (Ancestral Qi) is the source of generation and transformation. Yin and Yang combine, so subsequently involves the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder channel. Following the mutual generation of the Five Elements, it corresponds to the Wood of the Liver and Gallbladder, then involves the Baoluo (Uterus and its collaterals). The Fire of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner), passing through the Spleen, Kidney, Lung, Large Intestine, Stomach, and Bladder, completes the ten-month period. Only the Hand-Shaoyin Heart channel and Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine channel have no specific function in nourishing the fetus. The Ruler's Office (Heart) remains in a state of non-action (Wuwei).
The first month is governed by the Foot-Jueyin Liver channel.
The second month is governed by the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder channel.
The third month is governed by the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium channel.
The fourth month is governed by the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao channel.
The fifth month is governed by the Foot-Taiyin Spleen channel.
The sixth month is governed by the Foot-Yangming Stomach channel.
The seventh month is governed by the Hand-Taiyin Lung channel.
The eighth month is governed by the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine channel.
The ninth month is governed by the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney channel.
The tenth month is governed by the Foot-Taiyang Bladder channel.
According to astronomical texts translated from the Hui country (Islamic regions), the influence of the Seven Luminaries (Seven Planets) differs from the above. It is recorded here for reference. (Initially, the uterine cavity is extremely hot, steaming the outer skin dry to form the placenta.)
The first month is illuminated by Saturn.
The second month is illuminated by Jupiter. (Color turns red.)
The third month is illuminated by Mars. (Heart, liver, and brain form.)
The fourth month is illuminated by the Sun. (The body is fully formed.)
The fifth month is illuminated by Venus. (Hair forms.)
The sixth month is illuminated by Mercury. (Tongue moves, mouth opens.)
The seventh month is illuminated by the Moon. (In this month, the fetus gains strength. If born at this time, it can grow up healthy.)
The eighth month is again illuminated by Saturn. (Saturn's nature is dry; fetal movement agitates, the infant is lethargic. If born at this time, it may not grow well.)
The ninth month is again illuminated by Mercury. (Warm and moist, strong movement.)
The tenth month is full-term, Qi is sufficient, and vitality is generated.
