When cold-wind pathogenic factors combine with phlegm-fluid retention and damage the heart vessels causing stagnation, symptoms manifest as alternating chills and fever. One must examine the cause to treat accordingly. If caused by dietary injury, use Pingwei San (Calm the Stomach Powder) with Zhike (Aurantii Fructus) and Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus).

This is mostly due to cold-wind, damp-heat, or phlegm-fluid retention clashing with visceral qi. When rushing upward to the heart, it causes heart pain; when attacking downward to the abdomen, it causes abdominal pain. If the pain persists, fetal movement becomes unstable. Jinfeicao Tang (Boilweed Decoction) is suitable. If fetal qi is stagnant, add Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma) and Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma). If injured by food stagnation, use Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) with Zisu (Perillae Folium) and Zhike (Aurantii Fructus). If injured by anger affecting the liver, add Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) and Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus). If stagnation injures the spleen, use Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) with Zhike (Aurantii Fructus) and Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus).
During pregnancy, intermittent abdominal pain and a heavy sensation in the lower abdomen are mostly due to blood deficiency and qi sinking, occasionally accompanied by cold-heat symptoms.
