Blood depletion leads to rebellious Stomach Qi, resulting in vomiting and diarrhea. Another theory suggests that Phlegm-Fire combats each other. Food is vomited immediately after swallowing. This causes nausea of pregnancy (Ezu), making it difficult to swallow food. Banxia Fuling Tang is an essential prescription for this condition.
Cold and heat intermingle, deficiency and excess coexist. Regulating Qi to achieve harmony ensures the fetus remains tranquil.

For pregnant women with generalized edema or lower limb edema, commonly known as Tai Zhong (Fetal Edema) or Tai Shui (Fetal Water). Some cases arise from Spleen deficiency failing to control water, with blood dispersing to the four limbs causing swelling. Others result from the fetus carrying water, where water and blood combat each other. Some are due to Spleen-Stomach deficiency with dampness. Some stem from exposure to wind-cold. Some occur after dysentery. Some result from excessive dietary intake. Some present with abdominal distension and swelling. Treatment requires detailed examination.
Swelling and distension are mostly caused by Damp-Heat. Gardenia (Shanzhi) and Radish seed (Laifu) should be stir-fried appropriately, ground into powder, and taken mixed with thick rice gruel. This ensures the resolution of deficiency-type edema.
When a pregnant woman experiences mental restlessness (Zi Fan), it is because Lung deficiency allows Heat to invade the Heart, causing mental agitation. Retained Phlegm and accumulated fluids gather between the Heart and Chest; if they rush up to the Heart, they also cause irritability. If there is Phlegm accompanied by irritability, saliva is spat out, and there is aversion to the smell of food, indicating irritability.
Pregnant women experiencing heart palpitations, chest oppression, and Zi Fan (mental restlessness during pregnancy) have an etiology involving two Fires (Ministerial Fire and Imperial Fire) acting within. Zhuye Tang eliminates deficiency-dryness diseases, and Maidong Yinzi resembles a fairy elixir.
