Zhike San (Bitter Orange Powder) and Baoqi San (Qi-Protecting Powder) from the *Jufang* (Prescriptions of the Bureau) are also excellent. (See Formula in Volume 16, Discourse 3). Zisu San (Perilla Leaf Powder) is also excellent. (See Formula in the preceding section on Fetal Pressure Upward).
When Yang exerts its influence and Yin transforms it, conception occurs. When Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) are harmonious, menstrual nourishment is sufficient, thus the fetus remains secure and grows. If Blood and Qi are deficient, the Zi Zang (Uterus) suffers from Wind-Cold pathogenic factors, leading to insufficient Blood and Qi, thereby failing to nourish the fetus, resulting in frequent miscarriages. Pregnant women who experience lower back pain are prone to miscarriage.
To treat frequent miscarriages within two months of pregnancy: Moxibustion at one cun below the knee, seven moxa cones.
Another prescription: Grind Chi Xiaodou (Vigna angularis) into powder. Mix with wine to form a measure of Fang Cun Bi (approx. 1 cubic inch), take twice daily. This also treats cases where menstrual flow continues for several months during pregnancy.
To treat frequent fetal loss during pregnancy with an unconsolidated fetus. Whether cold or heat, this is the source of myriad diseases.
Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus) (equal parts; another version includes Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) and Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma)).
Grind the above into powder. Take 2 qian mixed with warm wine on an empty stomach. Avoid consuming Songcai (Chinese cabbage), peach, plum, sparrow meat, and vinegar-preserved foods. (Same as *Jingxin Lu*).
Formula to treat frequent fetal injury during pregnancy.
Li Yu (Carp flesh) (2 jin), Jingmi (Oryza sativa var. japonica) (1 sheng).
Prepare the above two ingredients according to proper methods to make porridge. Use little salt. Do not add scallions, douchi (fermented soybeans), or vinegar. Eating this is very beneficial. Prepare and consume three times within a month for efficacy, ensuring fetal stability without contraindications. The formulas from *Jiyan*, Wen Zhong, *Beiji*, Cui Shi, and *Yannian* are identical.
