In the immediate postpartum period, when blood and qi contend causing pain, it is called "Jia" (Mass). The term "Jia" implies "false," indicating that the pain is floating, shifting, and has no fixed location. This arises from pre-existing wind-cold pathogenic factors leading to disharmony of blood and qi; during childbirth, the discharge of lochia is scanty, thus precipitating this condition. If not treated promptly, it often leads to accumulation and knotting, obstructing menstruation. Mild cases present with dysmenorrhea or scanty flow, while severe cases result in amenorrhea.
Treats postpartum incomplete expulsion of lochia, condensing into blood Jia, presenting with alternating chills and fever, abdominal distension and pain, anorexia, emaciation of the four limbs, or occasional dry mouth. Biejia Wan (Turtle Shell Pill).
