Treats dizziness and confusion due to wind deficiency, with limbs flaccid and relaxed, inability to sit or lie comfortably, or accompanied by alternating chills and fever. It is suitable for patients with blood deficiency who cannot tolerate diaphoretic (sweat-inducing) medicines. It is also indicated for spontaneous sweating after stroke, especially suitable for such cases.

Treats stagnation of wind-qi in the body, causing mental confusion, weakness in the four limbs, deviation and twitching of the mouth and eyes, occasional spasms and convulsions, loss of body fluids, thirst, and desire to drink. This formula can support Ying and Wei (nutritive and defensive qi) and dispel deficient wind. It is especially suitable for spontaneous sweating after stroke and postpartum stroke with spontaneous sweating.

Discussion: Regarding women's arm pain, where sinews and vessels are cramped and tight, preventing flexion and extension, worsening upon exposure to cold. This is caused by Liver deficiency, allowing wind-cold pathogenic factors to flow into the blood vessels, lodge in the collaterals, and contend with the sinews. When sinews lack nourishment, they become dry, tight, and painful. The pulse is tight and fine; it is appropriate to use Baiziren Wan (Polycnemi Semen Pill) and Shujing Tang (Unblocking Meridian Decoction). If arm pain prevents lifting, occurring on either the left or right side, and occasionally shifting to the other arm, this is due to latent phlegm in the Zhongwan region, with Spleen Qi stagnating and failing to circulate. The four limbs belong to the Spleen; when Spleen Qi stagnates and Qi fails to descend, it attacks upward to the arms, causing pain. The pulse is deep and fine; it is appropriate to use Lingfu Wan (Poria Pill) and Kongyan Dan (Draining Phlegm Elixir).
(From Wang Shi's *Zhimifang*).
