"Leaking fetus during pregnancy" refers to the condition where menstrual blood flows periodically after several months of pregnancy. This occurs due to the deficiency of the Chong and Ren meridians, which fail to restrain the blood of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine meridian and the Hand-Shaoyin Heart meridian. The Chong and Ren meridians are the "Sea of Meridians," originating from within the uterus. The Hand-Taiyang meridian corresponds to the Small Intestine, and the Hand-Shaoyin meridian corresponds to the Heart; these two meridians are exterior-interior pairs. Upward, they transform into breast milk; downward, they become menstruation. In pregnant women, menstruation stops because the qi and blood are congested to nourish the fetus and stored to serve as breast milk. If the qi of the Chong and Ren meridians is deficient, leakage occurs within the uterus, and it cannot control the menstrual blood, causing periodic bleeding. This is also called "uterine leakage." If the blood is exhausted, death ensues. Additionally, excessive labor, emotional imbalance (joy, anger, sorrow, happiness), consumption of cold or raw foods, and exposure to wind-cold can lead to fetal movement instability. If the mother has pre-existing diseases, the uterus may be invaded by wind-cold pathogens, causing irregular qi and blood flow and making the fetus unstable, resulting in vaginal bleeding.
"Sudden damage and disturbance during pregnancy" refers to injury to the fetus caused by disharmony of cold and heat, leading to sudden abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding. If not treated promptly, miscarriage will occur.
