To treat postpartum malaria in women, where chills and fever are equal, or where fever predominates. Caoguo Yinzi (Tsaoko Drink) is suitable.
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, soaked) Chifuling (Poria with Red Core) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried) Caoguo (Tsaoko Fructus, processed, skin removed) Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) [each 2 qian] Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, white pith removed) Liangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma) Zisu (Perillae Folium) [each 1 qian] Gange (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) [4 qian]
Crush the herbs. For each dose of 3 qian, add one large cup of water, three slices of fresh ginger, and two jujubes. Decoct together until only 70% remains, then filter out the dregs. On the day the malaria attacks, take three doses consecutively early in the morning; there will be no discomfort.

Regarding "Churu Laolao" (Postpartum Asthenia/Laborious Fatigue), this condition arises because childbirth occurred recently, blood and qi are weak, and dietary intake has not yet stabilized; within a month, blood and qi are deficient and emaciated. Improper nursing allows wind-cold pathogens to invade. Wind-cold clashes with blood and qi, failing to warm the muscles and skin, causing weakness, fatigue, alternating lying down and getting up, haggard complexion, poor appetite, and indigestion. Wind-cold pathogenic factors affect the lungs; the lungs suffer slight cold, leading to cough, dry mouth, dizziness, and pain in all joints. Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) are affected by wind pathogens, flowing into the zang-fu organs, causing frequent episodes in a short time; sometimes night sweats occur, chills and fever alternate like malaria, oppression and stuffiness in the back and shoulders, inability to lift the limbs, heaviness making it difficult to rise from bed. These are the signs of Churu Laolao.
Another discussion states: Women, due to difficult labor, extreme exhaustion of sinews and strength, and mental worry and toil, become deficient, emaciated, panting, and fatigued. Chills and fever alternate like malaria, headache with spontaneous sweating, limb lassitude, cough with rebellious phlegm, and cramping/stabbing pain in the abdomen. This is named Churu Laolao.
To treat postpartum deficiency, emaciation, panting, fatigue, alternating chills and fever like malaria, limb pain, and sallow complexion. This is called Churu Laolao.
Zhushen (Porcinus Ren, one pair, remove fatty membrane, cut into four pieces) Xiangchi (Sojae Preparata) Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) Jingmi (Oryza Sativa Glutinosa Semen) Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) [each 2 liang]
Crush the herbs, divide into two doses. Use three sheng of water, boil to obtain one small bowl, filter out dregs, and divide into three doses. (Guangji Fang does not contain Shaoyao but contains Renshen).
