The protrusion of tissue from the vagina, resembling a mushroom or fungus, or extending several inches, is termed "Yin Ting" (uterine prolapse). This condition may result from damage to the Bao Luo (uterine ligaments), excessive exertion during childbirth, downward sinking due to constrained heat, or downward collapse due to Qi deficiency. Generally, the treatment for this syndrome should focus on raising and tonifying Yuan Qi (primordial Qi) and securing/astringing Zhen Yin (True Yin). For cases of sliding discharge due to Yin deficiency, Gu Yin Jian (Solidify Yin Decoction) and Mi Yuan Jian (Secretify Origin Decoction) are suitable; for sinking due to Qi deficiency, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) and Shi Quan Da Bu Tang (Ten Complete Tonification Decoction) are suitable; for sinking due to Qi deficiency caused by excessive exertion during childbirth, Shou Pi Jian (Longevity Spleen Decoction) and Gui Pi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) are suitable; for downward sinking due to constrained heat, Long Dan Xie Gan Tang (Gentian Liver-Draining Decoction) and Jia Wei Xiao Yao San (Modified Free Wanderer Powder) are suitable.

Shui Yang Tang: Treats growths in the vagina of women, accompanied by itching, pain radiating to the waist and abdomen. This is mostly caused by excessive sexual intercourse, unfulfilled sexual desire, or illicit acts, leading to injury of the Yin Hu (vaginal opening), named "Yin Ting".
Herbs: Cibotii Rhizoma (Jin Mao Gou Ji), Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus (Wu Bei Zi), Alum (Ku Fan), Houttuyniae Herba (Yu Xing Cao), Salix Tomentella Root (Shui Yang Gen), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huang Lian) (each 1 liang).
Grind the above herbs into powder, divide into four doses. Decoct in a spouted earthenware pot. Prepare a bamboo tube with joints removed beforehand to connect to the pot's spout, guiding the steam into the vagina or penetrating the prolapsed part. When the decoction is warm enough, use it to wash the area. Concurrently, take internal medicines for treating prolapse.
Female vaginal swelling is largely of the same category as prolapse. However, prolapse often indicates deficiency, while swelling often indicates heat. If there is Qi sinking with heat, raise and clear it; Qing Hua Yin (Clear Transform Drink) added with Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) and Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) is suitable. If there is Qi obstruction with heat, drain and clear it; Da Li Qing Yin (Great Purify Clear Drink) and Xi Xin Yin (Extinguish Fire Drink) are suitable. If there is Liver-Kidney Yin deficiency with heat, Jia Wei Xiao Yao San (Modified Free Wanderer Powder) is suitable. If there is swelling due to Qi deficiency and sinking, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) is suitable. If swelling results from childbirth injury to the vaginal opening, there is no need to specifically treat the swelling; simply regulate Qi and Blood, and the swelling will recede naturally. If swelling is due to injury causing Qi stagnation, unrelated to Yuan Qi, using Bai Cao Tang (Hundred Herbs Decoction) (Note: i.e., Bai Cao Jian) for fumigation and washing is excellent.

Bai Cao Jian (Hundred Herbs Decoction) (See *New Formulas Eight Arrays · Yin Array*): Treats various carbuncles, sores, trauma pain, putrid flesh swelling, or accumulation of wind-cold-dampness causing wandering pain, etc., with miraculous efficacy.
Bai Cao (Hundred Herbs): Any herbs found in fields or mountains can be used, but mountain herbs are superior, especially those with pungent aromas. In winter, dried herbs can be used if harvested in advance.
Regardless of quantity, decoct into a strong soup. Fumigate and wash the affected area while hot. Then, soak cloth in the liquid and apply warm compresses for a long time, ensuring the medicinal vapor penetrates thoroughly. Afterwards, apply other topical medications. Twice or three times daily is acceptable, with frequent application being preferable. Generally, cold-natured herbs remove heat, warm-natured herbs disperse cold, aromatic herbs move Qi, and toxic herbs detoxify. They are useful in all aspects without disadvantage. The water acquires the herb's nature, becoming harmless; the herb acquires the water's vapor, enhancing its potency. The principle for making pastes from hundred herbs is the same. This is truly the most important and best method in external medicine, also taught to lay practitioners. For treating hydrocele or scrotal edema, use 20-30 jin of herbs per session, decoct into 2-3 pots of strong soup, store in a large basin, shield from wind with a mat, fumigate and wash for a long time, once or twice daily. Internally, administer Kuo Qing Yin (Clear the Vessel Drink) and similar draining formulas for excellent results.
Another formula: Treats pain and swelling in the vagina. Use 8 oz of Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), sliced and stir-fried. Wrap in cloth while hot and apply as a warm compress to reduce external swelling. Also, wrap a small amount in cloth while hot and insert into the vagina, replacing when cool. It heals within three applications.
Another formula: Decoct Xiaomai (Tritici Fructus), Poxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Baifan (Alumen), Wu Bei Zi (Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus), and Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) in water for soaking and washing.
Gan Ju Tang (Chrysanthemum Decoction): Treats vaginal swelling. Use fresh leaves and shoots of Gan Ju (Chrysanthemi Indici Flos), any quantity. Mash them, pour boiling water over them to extract the juice, and use for fumigation and washing.
