[Note] Women suffering from Pi syndrome with abdominal and hypochondriac pain are caused by the intermingling of Wind-Cold and Qi-Blood. It is appropriate to use Congbai San to warm and disperse. This formula is Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Renshen (Ginseng), Fuling (Poria), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig), Houpo (Magnolia Bark), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Qingpi (Tangerine Peel without Albedo), Ezhu (Curcumae Rhizoma), Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma), Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus), Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata), Maibo (Hordei Fructus Germinatus), Koushenzi (Meliae Semen), Congbai (Scallion White), and Yanshi (Salt), decocted and taken orally. Danggui San (Angelica Sinensis Powder)
Women suffering from Shan disease (hernia-like condition), with Qi attacking and rushing, causing stabbing pain in the hypochondrium and abdomen. The formula consists of Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus), Taoren (Persicae Semen), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Qingpi (Tangerine Peel without Albedo), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Peng'ezhu (Curcumae Rhizoma).
[Note] Women suffering from Shan disease with Qi attacking and stabbing pain are mostly caused by Wind-Cold and Cold-Damp invading the Bao Men (uterine gate) and Xueshi (blood chamber). Therefore, these diseases belong to the Jueyin Liver Meridian. It is appropriate to use Danggui San, which consists of Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus), Taoren (Persicae Semen), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Rougui (Cinnamon Twig), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Qingpi (Tangerine Peel without Albedo), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), and Peng'ezhu (Curcumae Rhizoma).
When the physical constitution is weak but the pathogenic factor is strong, one should first support the healthy Qi; when both the physical constitution and symptoms indicate excess, one should urgently eliminate the pathogen. For large accumulations and聚结s, stop attacking when half has been reduced; one must know that nourishing the healthy Qi will naturally cause the accumulation to disappear.
[Note] In treating various Ji and Ju (accumulations and masses), one should first examine whether the patient's body is strong or weak, and whether the disease process is slow or urgent, then treat accordingly. If the person is weak, meaning Qi and Blood are deficient and cannot withstand attacking methods, even if the disease is severe, one should first support the healthy Qi and then treat the disease; if the physical signs and symptoms are all excess, one should first attack the disease. The Classics state: "For large accumulations and masses, stop when half has been reduced," fearing that excessive attacking will damage Qi and Blood. Luo Tianyi said: "Nourish the healthy Qi, and the accumulation will naturally disappear." This can be said to have grasped the essence of the Classics.
