Preface to the Original Divine Formula for Broad Progeny from the Experience of Lord Zhuyi Hu (Originally transmitted by Elder Ye of Yueshui).
When a person has no offspring, it is not merely that the lineage ceases, but the sacrifices to ancestors are also cut off; there is no greater sin than this. I have already passed sixty years of age, and obtaining offspring has been difficult. Even if conception occurred, it never resulted in a viable birth. I sought every deity and took every medicine, yet ultimately with no effect. I came to believe that destiny was fixed and human efforts could not reverse it. From then on, my heart turned to ash and I despaired. Suddenly, I met an extraordinary person who taught me a formula for broad progeny, which could also change a female fetus into a male. Following the method and testing it, I indeed gave birth to a son. To obtain an unexpected child in one's twilight years—could this not be the immediate efficacy of a divine prescription! I deeply considered that such a good and miraculous formula should not be kept secret. Therefore, I made a vow to print it for the public. If anyone struggles with infertility, these medicines can induce pregnancy, and this method can ensure a male child. Acting according to this will surely bring the omen of a precious son; how can this be called a minor benefit!
Formula for Regulating Menstruation and Planting Jade (One Hundred Shots, One Hundred Hits)
Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, washed with wine), Wu Zhu Yu (Fructus Evodiae, stir-fried), Chuan Xiong (Rhizoma Ligustici Wallichii, each 4 qian), Xiang Fu (Rhizoma Cyperi, stir-fried), Shu Di Huang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, each 6 qian), Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Alba, stir-fried with wine), Bai Fu Ling (Poria, including the bark), Dan Pi (Cortex Moutan), Xuan Hu Suo (Rhizoma Corydalis), Chen Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, each 3 qian).
If menstruation is overdue and the blood color is pale, it indicates Blood Deficiency with Cold. Add Guan Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex, stir-fried), Gan Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Secati), and Shu Ai Ye (Folium Artemisiae Argyi Preparatum, each 2 qian). If menstruation occurs three to five days early and the color is purple, add Tiao Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 3 qian).
Grind the above herbs into four doses. For each dose, use three slices of Sheng Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) and one and a half bowls of water, decoct until one bowl remains. Take warm on an empty stomach. Decoct the dregs again and take before bed. Start taking on the day menstruation arrives, once a day. Stop the medicine when menstruation ends. Then, intercourse will lead to pregnancy. Even if pregnancy does not occur immediately, menstruation will be regular. Take another four doses when the next period comes; pregnancy is certain.
All diseases in humans can be treated medically, except that a woman's life during childbirth hangs in the balance. In case of danger, even famous doctors may not know what to do. This is because before delivery, the parturient may either have a robust body with rebellious Qi causing obstruction, or a weak physique with insufficient Blood, leading to abnormal presentations (such as transverse or breech birth). When the infant is just born, new Blood has not yet formed, and old Blood has not yet cleared. If rice porridge or other foods are consumed immediately, it will inevitably cause stagnation of Qi and Blood, leading to fainting and endangering life. This is truly lamentable. I have studied over dozens of formulas for protecting childbirth, but none had such miraculous effects. There are two such formulas: one is Da Sheng Tang (Delivery Decoction). Taking several doses after the ninth month of pregnancy makes delivery as easy as a lamb giving birth. The other is Sheng Hua Tang (Generation and Transformation Decoction). Taking two or three doses when the infant lands eliminates symptoms like fainting and abdominal pain. The medicine must be prepared in advance according to the method, decocted upon waking, and taken upon birth. The cost of these two formulas is not high. I hope gentlemen of like mind will either distribute the medicine or pass on the formula, thereby accumulating boundless hidden merit.
Da Sheng Tang (Delivery Decoction)
Chuan Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 1.5 qian, washed with wine), Chuan Xiong (Rhizoma Ligustici Wallichii, 6 fen), Yi Mu Cao (Herba Leonuri, 1 qian, avoid iron vessels), Che Qian Zi (Semen Plantaginis, 5 fen, stir-fried and ground), Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, 1 qian, soaked in rice wash water and stir-fried), Dong Kui Zi (Semen Malvae, 1 qian, stir-fried and crushed), Da Fu Pi (Pericarpium Arecae, 4 fen, washed several times with distant water), Mu Xiang (Radix Aucklandiae, 3 fen, ground and mixed in), Sheng Niu Xi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, 6 fen, washed with wine and left overnight), Zhi Ke (Fructus Aurantii, 5 fen, stir-fried with bran), Zhi Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 3 fen).
Add one slice of Sheng Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) and two zhong of water, decoct to eight fen, and take warm after meals.
If abdominal pain is felt, add Bai Zhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae) and Chen Xiang (Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum, each 5 fen) and decoct together to take.
Sheng Hua Tang (Postpartum Decoction)
Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 8 qian, washed with wine), Chuan Xiong (Rhizoma Ligustici Wallichii, 4 qian), Tao Ren (Semen Persicae, 10 grains, skin and尖 removed), Gan Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Secati, 5 fen, stir-fried until black on the outside but retaining its nature), Zhi Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 5 fen).
Use two zhong of water, add six or seven spoons of good aged wine, decoct to one zhong. Take two or three doses before any food or drink is taken at the time of birth. It is suitable for both normal delivery and miscarriage. If labor is slightly delayed, taking one dose first is even better. Do not listen to mediocre doctors changing the formula.
Menstruation is usually based on the lunar month, but some are regular and still do not conceive. Their Qi only circulates normally. They must take warming and tonifying agents to advance their cycle by one or two days, so that intercourse in that month leads to pregnancy. This is because Blood does not advance unless Qi is vigorous, and Qi does not become vigorous unless warmed and tonified. The method of adjusting the cauldron [metaphor for sexual intercourse/reproduction] is only to let Qi and Blood harmonize themselves. However, the world often calls the uterus "deficient and cold." Those who take hot medicines like Ai Fu Wan (Mugwort and Cyperus Pill) do not know that hot medicines can cause fire to blaze and Blood to dry up, like facing a furnace in midsummer, which is not only useless but harmful.
There are two causes for menstruation arriving early: either Qi cannot protect Blood, or Blood suffers from dryness and heat. There are two causes for late menstruation: either Blood cannot move Qi, or Qi cannot reach Blood.
Thin people mostly suffer from Blood Deficiency, while fat people may have Phlegm-Fire; thus, one must consider using formulas to clear Phlegm and descend Fire.
Pale menstrual color has two causes: either Deficiency or Phlegm. Purple-black menstrual color has two causes: either Heat or Phlegm. Pain during menstruation has two causes: pain before flow indicates Qi Stagnation; pain after flow indicates Blood Deficiency. However, there are cases of simultaneous Qi and Blood Deficiency. Qi Deficiency means lack of strength to transport effectively, and Blood Deficiency means obstruction and涩 (roughness/stasis) in the meridians.
The pleasure of female essence union is double that of men, and the damage is also double that of men. Foolish women do not realize it, and clever men do not easily observe it. There may be panting, cold tongue, or hot cheeks, presenting an indescribable state of gentle, rich, misty vaporization and tingling sensation. Only within a breath, when she is about to lose control but hasn't yet, I urgently engage, ensuring that the lingering flavor enters completely.
The method of challenge is only shallow tasting. When the battle is intense and breathing is heavy, deep penetration is especially unsuitable. As the ancient poem says: "Where to find peach blossoms in the cave? Originally only one inch and two fen deep," this is the true aperture. However, if the vessel is long and plump, it must be slightly deeper; if short, slightly shallower. Thus, there is a distinction. Generally, flying shallow allows shooting at eight places, while deep penetration may hit obstacles and miss the aperture, which is natural law. If a woman is properly nourished, with strong Qi and Blood, and has not encountered a man for a long time, she will occasionally experience a moment of desire arising naturally, feeling unable to endure the urge to unite, even to the point of red cheeks and hot face, and mental confusion. At this time, engaging with vigor is absolutely appropriate. But she hides her shame and does not speak, so I have no way to know, or I know but lack the vigor to respond. Therefore, one must clearly explain the reason for desiring a child. Or perhaps she is willing to reveal it, but without daily care and love, how can intimacy be achieved? Using this segment of spirit is also not easy for a husband.
From the time a girl's Tian Gui (essence/menstrual fluid) first arrives at age fourteen (two sevens), until menopause at age forty-nine (seven sevens), I compiled this ready-made guide. Anyone wishing to conceive a male should follow the timing; there will be no failure. However, the "years" mentioned in the guide are based on the birthday. A person completes one year only when the birthday arrives. The "months" are based on solar terms. A month begins only when the solar term arrives. Also, among the characters, "Zhuang" (strong/vigorous) indicates non-pregnancy or unstable pregnancy, inevitable delivery without retention, or retention without permanence, which has particularly miraculous verification. Adjusting the cauldron and applying effort, not casting seeds in vain places, emitting at the right time, and not wasting opportunities for producing females, thus naturally reducing desire. Is this not merely a secret for bearing children, but also the true principle for prolonging life and eliminating disease?
To seed: In odd years and odd months, a boy is born; in even years and even months, a girl is born. If one does not follow the Heaven and Earth method, desiring a boy results in a girl.
Method for Predicting Sex of Fetus: Add 49 to the month of pregnancy, subtract the current age to determine without doubt. Divide the remainder from 1 to 9; even numbers indicate girls, odd numbers indicate boys.
The method states: Place 49, add 8 (month of pregnancy), total 57. Subtract age 28, remainder 29. Divide by Heaven (1), Earth (2), Man (3), Four Seasons (4), Five Elements (5), Six Laws (6), Seven Stars (7). The remaining number: odd is male, even is female. If the number is large, divide by Eight Winds (8) again.
Two Immortal Date Formulas for Men's Seed (Transmitted by Magistrate Jiang of Xiangshan County; a seventy-year-old man in the county took them and had three sons in succession)
Du Zhong (Cortex Eucommiae, 1 liang, stir-fried with ginger juice), Tu Si Zi (Semen Cuscutae, 6 liang, washed), Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 2 liang, washed with wine), Da Fu Zi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, 3 qian), Huang Bo (Cortex Phellodendri, 1 liang, honey-roasted), Zhi Mu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, 1 liang), Yuan Zhi Rou (Radix Polygalae, 1 liang), Rou Cong Rong (Herba Cistanches, 1 liang, washed with wine), Fu Ling (Poria, 1 liang), Shu Di Huang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, 2 liang, washed with wine), Gou Qi Zi (Fructus Lycii, 1 liang), Xiao Hui Xiang (Fructus Foeniculi, 5 qian), Yin Yang Huo (Herba Epimedii, 2 liang, remove branches, leaves, and thorns, stir-fry with sheep fat; wine is also acceptable).
Process the above herbs according to the method, place them in a clay pot. Select 3 jin of clean black dates, add water covering the dates, boil slowly until dry, remove the herbs, collect the dates, decoct the juice, dry in the sun, and store in a ceramic jar to prevent leakage. Take five to seven dates every morning on an empty stomach with boiled water (can be evenly taken over more than a month).
Formula for Women's Use
Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 2 liang), Sheng Di Huang (Radix Rehmanniae, 2 liang), Hong Hua (Flos Carthami, 5 qian), Su Zi (Fructus Perillae, 5 qian), Ai Ye (Folium Artemisiae Argyi, 2 liang), Jiu Zi (Semen Allii Tuberosi, 2 liang), Xiang Fu (Rhizoma Cyperi, 2 liang, stir-fried with vinegar).
Use 2 jin of black dates and boil according to the previous method. When half-cooked, add 1 liang of Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) and 2 liang of Xiang Fu (stir-fried with vinegar four times). Cook well on the dates, remove the bottom herbs, and store according to the previous method (sun-dry). Take three to five dates every morning on an empty stomach, evenly taken over more than a month.
These two types of Immortal Dates, taken by both men and women simultaneously and stopped simultaneously, not only preserve health for over a month and miraculously aid conception, but also eliminate hundred diseases and respond to ten thousand tests. Truly a divine prescription.
Si Qi Yu Lin Wan (Four Wonders Conceiving Pill)
Fen Long Gu (Os Draconis et Mammutis, use five-colored ones, fired in yin-yang kiln, 1 qian), Yang Qi Shi (Mineral Magnetitum/Hematite showing solar movement, authentic, 3 qian), Bai Zhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, dried in copper vessel, yellow is best, 3 qian), Bi Ma (Semen Ricini, shell removed, use seed, remove all oil, 49 grains), Huang Chun Ji Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex, dried and ground to fine powder, 5 qian), Sha Ren (Fructus Amomi, shell removed, dry stir-fried, washed with wine, baked, 1 qian), Nao Yang Hua (Flora Albizziae Julibrissinis, baked, ground to powder, 1 qian), Shen Lu (Radix Ginseng Rhizome, ground to fine powder, 5 qian), Gou Qi Zi (Fructus Lycii, pith removed, clean flesh stir-fried, ground to powder, 1 qian), She Xiang (Moschus, dried and ground to powder, 1 qian), Zi Shao Hua (Corona Lilii, moist purple is best, 1 qian), Bei Xi Xin (Radix Asari, soaked in water overnight, stir-fried dry, ground to powder, 3 qian), Rou Cong Rong (Herba Cistanches, red is best, slightly baked dry, ground to powder, 1 qian), Zhen Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex, peeled and ground fine, 2 qian), Han Di Fu Ping (Herba Lemnae, plump is best, use clean leaves, 2 qian), Wu Zhu Yu (Fructus Evodiae, stir-fried with vinegar overnight, stir-fried dry, 2 qian), Shi Liu Pi (Pericarpium Granati, fired in yin-yang kiln dry, ground to very fine powder, 1 qian), Chuan Jiao (Fructus Zanthoxyli, opened is best, ground to powder, 1 qian), Zhen Ya Pian Gao (Opium Paste, 1 qian), Suo Yang (Herba Cynomorii, washed with vinegar, 3 qian), Xiang Pi (Corium Corii Asini, ground to powder, 1 qian).
Grind the above twenty-one herbs to very fine powder, weigh accurately. Use half-raw honey to make pills the size of longan seeds. Coat externally with Ding Xiang You (Caryophylli Oil), then add a wax shell. On the day menstruation ends, remove the shell, insert the pill into the vagina for about the time it takes to eat a meal. Once the medicine melts and moves, it is invariably effective.
