In cases where frequent childbirth results in offspring lacking vitality or living short lives despite being raised, it is invariably due to the insufficiency of the parents' primordial Qi (vital energy). When conception occurs through sexual intercourse, if the male essence is abundant, the fetus will have full marrow and solid bones. If paired with a woman possessing robust Qi and Blood, the conceived child will be spirited and long-lived. However, if a man with excessive Yang fire mates with a weak woman, the mother will lack surplus Blood to nourish the fetus; consequently, medicinal tonics must be employed to cultivate the fetal origin, ensuring the child's longevity. For individuals who are physically frail or elderly men, it is necessary to sleep in separate beds and practice sexual abstinence, using herbs to calm the Shen (Spirit), waiting for the menstrual cycle to conclude, securing the Zhen Qi (True Qi) before engaging in intercourse. This constitutes the root of Yuan Qi (Primordial Qi) generation and the source of Kun Yuan (Motherly Origin) nurturing life. The *Classic* states: "Harmonizing according to natural laws is called the standard of the sage." If one does not maintain distance from the bedchamber, the Minister Fire (Xiang Huo) may easily flare up; even without actual intercourse, secret leakage and depletion of essence may occur significantly. The *Classic* also states: "When Yin is peaceful and Yang is secure, the Spirit functions properly; when Yin and Yang separate and break apart, the Spirit perishes." Two formulas follow, designed to supplement deficiencies in the Pre-Heaven Essence. They should be taken abundantly after conception to preserve the fetal origin.
**Bu Mu Yi Zi Decoction**: Treats offspring lacking vitality after frequent births, or those who live short lives despite upbringing. It also treats pregnant women with deficient Qi and Blood experiencing instability, or those suffering from recurrent miscarriages. Take this formula, fifteen doses per course; for severe weakness, take one dose daily. It greatly stabilizes the fetus, facilitates delivery, and ensures the child is spirited and long-lived.

For those with weak Spleen and Stomach prone to diarrhea: add Qian Shi (Euryales Semen) 10 pieces and Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus Rotundus cum Corte) 2 qian; reduce the dosage of Di Huang. For those prone to anger accompanied by diarrhea: add Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) 2 fen (ground into juice). For constant dryness and fullness in the mouth: add Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix) 2 qian.
