When a child is first born, the Qi of the bones has not yet consolidated, and the muscles have not yet formed; the body is still largely composed of blood, which coagulates to become firm muscle. Medical texts state that an infant's life is fragile, like bubbles on water or dew on grass blades. Within the first month after birth, how could the pathogenic factors of the Eight Winds from heaven and earth arrive quickly? This is primarily because during gestation, the mother failed to provide proper care, or due to labor and movement causing disturbance in Qi and Blood, or improper sitting and lying postures, irregular hunger and satiety, consumption of alcohol and meat, conflicting cold and hot foods, or fright and shock, leading to chaotic blood vessels and accumulation of toxins internally, damaging the fetal origin (Tai Yuan). Consequently, after birth, conditions such as Fetal Heat (Tai Re), Fetal Cold (Tai Han), Fetal Obesity (Tai Fei), Fetal Weakness (Tai Qie), Fetal Fright (Tai Jing), and Fetal Jaundice (Tai Huang) arise. Additionally, if external practices such as bathing, wiping the mouth, umbilical cord cutting, or moxibustion on the fontanelle are performed incorrectly, or if holding causes fright, or if breastfeeding temperature regulation is inappropriate, it leads to diseases such as Jin Kou (Trismus/Jaw Lock), Qi Feng (Neonatal Tetanus), Suo Du (Abdominal Distension with Constipation), and Bu Ru (Refusal to Breastfeed). These conditions are difficult to treat and are truly pitiable. The various prescriptions for miscellaneous pediatric diseases are listed below:

Discussion on Pediatric Fetal Heat: This occurs because the mother consumed excessive amounts of hot and toxic substances during pregnancy, causing the newborn to have body heat, red face, closed eyes, hot breath, irritability and crying, dry mouth and thirst, or obstruction of urination and defecation. The treatment method should gradually clear heat. First, administer medicine to the lactating mother; the infant will recover through breastfeeding. One must absolutely avoid seeking quick results by attacking with cold-natured medicines, as this will inevitably cause vomiting and lead to serious complications. Be cautious, be cautious.
Niang Ru Fang (Breast Milk Preparation Formula):
Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, 3 qian), Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 2.5 qian), Zhu Ling (Polyporus, remove black skin), Chi Fu Ling (Poria with Red Core, remove skin), Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthis Radix, each 1.5 qian), Yin Chen (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, each 1 qian).
Grind the above herbs into a powder. Take 3 qian per dose, add one lamp of water, and decoct until seven-tenths remain. Have the lactating mother express and discard retained milk, then take the medicine. After a short while, breastfeed the infant.
