1. Discussion on all kinds of sores and toxins causing severe pain, or no pain, or numbness. If painful, moxibustion should be continued until the pain ceases; if painless, moxibustion should be continued until pain is felt. In this way, the toxin will dissipate with the heat of the fire.
Fire can unblock and promote circulation, drawing out and expelling stagnant toxins. This is a method of "conforming treatment" (treating according to the nature or false appearance of the disease). It has the power to revive the dying.
Garlic-Separated Moxibustion Method:
Use a head of garlic, peel it, and slice it to a thickness of about three Chinese coins. Place the slice on the sore. Apply moxa cones on top of the garlic slice. After every three moxa cones (zhuang), replace the garlic slice and continue moxibustion. For sores that have not yet suppurated, they will resolve immediately; for those that have already suppurated, it can suppress their severity and prevent further harm. If the sore is large, crush the garlic and apply it as a paste to the affected area, then place moxa on top and burn it. Replace the garlic when it burns down. If the sore remains painless, does not suppurate, or fails to rise, especially in cases of Yin-type sores, extensive moxibustion is particularly suitable. However, if after moxibustion there is still no pain, no suppuration, and no rising, it is considered incurable, indicating extreme deficiency of Qi and Blood.
2. Discussion on carbuncles at the back of the brain and neck, known as "Yao Ju" (Heavenly Carbuncle), commonly called "Dui Kou Ding" (Opposite Mouth Carbuncle). For men, moxibustion is applied to the center of the third crease on the underside of the middle toe of the left foot; for women, the corresponding point on the right foot. Use high-quality Qimoa to apply seven moxa cones.
3. Discussion on carbuncles on the back (Fa Bei Yong Ju) in the early stage before ulceration. Use half an eggshell to cover the sore, and surround it with a dough ring to secure it. Apply a moxa cone to the tip of the eggshell. Continue until the patient feels itching or blisters form. Recovery occurs when foul-smelling sweat is discharged.
4. Moxibustion for Ding Sores (Hard Carbuncles): Crush garlic into a paste and apply it around the sore, leaving the apex exposed. Apply a moxa cone to the apex until a popping sound is heard. If no popping occurs, healing is difficult; continue with over one hundred moxa cones, which will invariably lead to recovery. Additionally, moxibustion is effective for acne-like Ding sores, bites from snakes, scorpions, centipedes, and dogs, as well as scrofula resulting from such bites.
5. Discussion on a divine method for moxibustion treating hemorrhoids:
Use a "Ke Bo Chong" (a flat, round insect), remove its legs, and place it on the hemorrhoid. Apply seven moxa cones. Immediate effect is observed.
6. Discussion on painful swelling and leakage of hemorrhoids with sticky pus and unbearable pain. Use moxa cones the size of a sophora seed (Wu Tong Zi) and apply seven cones to the tip of the coccyx (Wei Lu Gu Jian). Complete recovery ensues.
7. Discussion on ruptured scrofula: For men, use the left hand; for women, the right hand. Find the end of the transverse crease when making a fist. Apply a moxa cone the size of a pea for three cones. Healing occurs within three to four days.
8. Discussion on scrofula: Administer Yang Rong Tang (Nourishing Prosperity Decoction); most nodules will dissipate. For the one or two that do not, take one toad, peel off its skin, and cover the nodule with it. Then apply seven moxa cones on top of the toad skin. The nodule will disappear immediately.
9. Treatment for bumps on both feet, swollen toxins, and bone pain: Slice a single clove of garlic and lay it on the itchy or painful area. Apply two moxa cones per slice of garlic. Remove the garlic, replace with a new slice, and continue moxibustion until healed.
10. Discussion on a divine method for red and white sweat spots (Chai Bai Han Ban):
Alternatively, pricking with a needle to bleed can also work, but moxibustion on Jia Bai Xue (Jia White Acupoint) is recommended. First, ink the nipples. Have the patient extend both arms straight to clamp the nipples. The blackened areas indicate the acupoint.
11. Discussion on tetanus and dog bites. This method is easy to perform and highly effective.
Take half a walnut shell, fill it densely with thick human feces, and cover the wound with mulberry bark. Apply moxibustion. If the whole body sweats and the patient feels exhausted, recovery follows. For chronic old injuries, applying moxibustion to the wound as described above is also effective.
12. Discussion on mad dog bites and treatment of scrofula:
Pangolin scales (scraped and stir-fried with yellow earth), prepared moxa, Mylabris (Ban Mao).
Grind these ingredients into fine powder, mix evenly, and form moxa cones the size of a soybean. For each bite mark, apply a leaf of Chinese tallow tree (Wu Bai Ye) to the wound and apply fourteen moxa cones. If Wu Bai Ye is unavailable, thinly apply dried human feces instead.
13. For someone beaten or kicked to death, urgently treat Bai Hui Xue (Baihui Acupoint). Located at the center of the vertex, apply three moxa cones to restore consciousness immediately.
14. Discussion on difficult labor and retained placenta: Urgently apply three moxa cones, the size of a wheat grain, to the tip of the little toe of the mother's right foot. Delivery occurs immediately.
15. Discussion on female infertility, regular menstruation but failure to conceive, or recurrent miscarriages. Measure one cun from the joint crease of the woman's right middle finger, extending upwards. Take a grass stalk measuring nine cun. Have the patient lie flat on her back. Place the grass vertically from the umbilicus downwards until the end of the grass. Mark this spot with a pen. This is not an acupoint. Instead, fold the original grass in half horizontally and place the fold at the marked spot. The two ends of the grass indicate the acupoints. Pressing here reveals arterial pulsation. Apply three moxa cones at each point, with cones the size of a chopstick tip. This method is miraculous.
16. Discussion on infants aged three to seven days exhibiting trismus (lockjaw), refusal to suckle, and excessive crying. This indicates external wind invading the umbilicus and flowing into the Heart and Spleen meridians, causing tongue stiffness and puckered lips. Moxibustion on Cheng Jiang (Chengjiang Acupoint). Locate the point in the depression below the lower lip border. Next, moxibustion on Jia Che (Jiache Acupoints), seven cones each. Locate the points behind the angle of the mandible below the ears.
17. Discussion on infant umbilical tetanus: Moxibustion below the umbilicus brings life.
Another prescription: Measure the midpoint between the corners of the mouth with a thread, mark it with ink, place it on the umbilicus, and radiate moxibustion outward for seven cones.
Another prescription: Use seven fresh needles to prick the circular area between the eyebrows over one hundred times.
Another prescription: Ignite a four-cornered grass, hold the infant over the fire, rotating left and right three times each, inducing sweat to cure the condition.
18. Discussion on critical conditions of slow convulsion and slow spleen in children where medicinal efficacy is insufficient: Check the depression in the center of the dorsum of both feet for the pulse of Tai Chong (Taichong). If present, moxibustion on Bai Hui Xue (Baihui Acupoint).
Locate the point by taking the midpoint between the anterior and posterior hairlines vertically, and the midpoint between the tips of the two ears horizontally. It is located at the center of the scalp where the hair whorl is端正 (straight/upright). If there are double whorls or the whorl is misaligned, it is not this point. Use moxa cones the size of a wheat grain, stopping after three to five cones. After moxibustion, administer tonifying medicines such as Xing Pi San (Awaken Spleen Powder).
19. Discussion on infant night blindness (Que Mu): Cannot see at night. Moxibustion on the inner edge of the white flesh at the head of the transverse crease, one cun behind the nail of the thumb. Apply one cone the size of a wheat grain on each side.
20. Discussion on infant stridor (Hou Qi): Moxibustion on the tip of the ring finger leads to good recovery.
21. Discussion on infant rectal prolapse and bloody diarrhea: When bowel movements cause unbearable cramping pain of the viscera, apply two moxa cones to Bai Hui (Baihui Acupoint).
22. Discussion on infant convulsions: For males, moxibustion on the dark areolar tissue of the left breast; for females, the right breast. One-year-olds receive three cones; two-to-three-year-olds receive five to seven cones. Highly effective.
23. Moxibustion for snake venom: When bitten by a snake, apply moxibustion directly on the bite site to draw out the toxin. Recovery is immediate.
Secret Formula of Yi Mansion: Taiyi Zhenren Navel Fumigation Method
Can tonify various deficiencies and hundred diseases, promoting longevity.
She Xiang (Moschus, 5 fen, ground into powder and placed inside the navel; other powders are placed on top of the musk, surrounded by a dough ring, covered with mulberry bark, and moxibusted for 120 zhuang, replacing the bark as needed), Long Gu (Fossilized Bones), Hu Gu (Tiger Bone), She Gu (Snake Bone), Fu Zi (Aconite Root), Nan Mu Xiang (Aquilaria Wood), Xiong Huang (Realgar), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar), Ru Xiang (Frankincense), Mo Yao (Myrrh), Ding Xiang (Clove), Hu Jiao (Pepper), Ye Ming Sha (Bat Guano), Wu Ling Zhi (Trogopterus Dung), Xiao Hui Xiang (Fennel), Liang Tou Jian (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Qing Yan (Green Salt).
All ingredients in equal parts, ground into fine powder, placed in the navel, and treated with moxibustion.
The Lung is the canopy of the five Zang organs, the passage for voice, and provides moisture to the skin and hair. Kidney Water is generated through it. If the interstices (Cou Li) are not dense, Wind-Cold, Summer-Heat, and Damp-Heat will invade due to deficiency. Seven Emotions must be regulated and restrained; stagnation must be resolved. If improper use of pungent-drying herbs causes Qi to stagnate in the Lung, sticky phlegm accumulates, leading to wheezing,急促 (rapid) breathing, and cough. Alternatively, sexual exhaustion or irregular diet may cause hematemesis or hemoptysis, aversion to cold, tidal fever, dizziness, fatigue, weak spirit, and loss of appetite. When medical treatment is ineffective, this urgent method must be used. Its effects are beyond description. Moschus guides the herbs into the Five Zang and Six Fu organs, penetrating everywhere. Ding Xiang stabilizes the Stomach and promotes appetite. Qing Yan enters the Kidney to strengthen the "Son" organ, preventing Lung leakage. Ye Ming Sha nourishes Blood and disperses internal injury excess. As bat guano, fed on mosquitoes, drinking morning dew and night blood, it absorbs Heaven-Human Qi, thus curing the five labors and seven injuries. Only this can reach the target. Ru Xiang, Mo Yao, Mu Xiang, and Xiao Hui Xiang regulate Qi ascent and descent, preventing cough. Long Gu, She Gu, Zhu Sha, and Xiong Huang eliminate the root of the disease. Liang Tou Jian patrols the meridians, pushing forward and pulling backward. Fu Zi and Hu Jiao tonify Yuan Qi, ensuring Blood circulates in the Blood Chamber and Qi returns to the Qi Residence, transforming phlegm into fluids. Wu Ling Zhi connects and controls the Lung, reducing excess and tonifying deficiency. Mulberry bark juice seals and suppresses the properties of the herbs, preventing erratic movement. Moxibustion draws out disease and toxin, reviving the dead. It treats consumptive disease with bleeding, Yin deficiency with seminal emission and turbid urine, impotence, mental fatigue, phlegm-fire, leukorrhea in women, uterine cold causing infertility, and all serious illnesses. Using this moxibustion method saves lives, extends longevity, and achieves the miracle of Lu Yi and Bian Que. The method: First, make a dough ring. Divide the herbal material into three parts. Put Moschus in the navel first. Place the dough ring over the medicine, press tight, cover with mulberry bark, and moxibust with Qimoa for thirty cones. Feel heat moving up or down, permeating the body. The patient will feel fatigued and fall into deep sleep. At sixty cones, profuse sweating occurs like rain, reaching from Ni Wan Palace to Yong Quan, extracting Wind-Cold-Damp-Heat from bones and marrow, and eliminating Five Labors and Seven Injuries from the viscera. At one hundred cones, almost all diseases dissolve like ice. During moxibustion, avoid Wind-Cold, and abstain from greasy, raw, cold foods, alcohol, and sex. The effects are too numerous to list; treasure this method.
