Discussion on the treatment for stroke causing lockjaw (inability to open the mouth due to tight jaw). Acupuncture at Renzhong, Jiache, Zusanli, and Hegu is effective.
Discussion on sudden exposure to evil wind, causing mental restlessness, pain, and a desire to die. Stimulate the acupoint at the transverse crease under the big toe of both feet, applying moxibustion according to the patient's age (Sui Nian Zhuang), with immediate effect.
Discussion on treating stroke-induced lockjaw. Stimulate the "Ji Guan" pair of points, located 8 fen below the ear slightly forward, stopping at five moxa cones.
Discussion on wind pathogen affecting the collaterals leading to facial paralysis; affecting the Fu organs leading to limb disability; affecting the Zang organs leading to critical condition. For such treatments, it is best to first employ methods to release the exterior, regulate Qi, harmonize blood, and treat phlegm, before supporting recovery. To achieve complete cure, moxibustion is the best method.
Discussion on wind pathogen affecting the collaterals, causing facial paralysis.
Stimulate Tinghui (two points, in the depression anterior to the ear, accessible by opening the mouth, where the arterial pulse is felt), Jiache (two points, in the depression below the ear, approximately two leek-leaf widths wide, accessible by opening the mouth), and Dicang (two points, four fen lateral to the corner of the mouth near the lower side, where a slight pulse is felt).
For rightward deviation of the mouth, it indicates left-sided collateral stroke with flaccidity. Moxibustion should be applied to the depression on the left side for fourteen cones. For leftward deviation, it indicates right-sided collateral stroke with flaccidity. Moxibustion should be applied to the depression on the right side for fourteen cones.
Discussion on wind pathogen affecting the Fu organs, presenting with symptoms such as hemiplegia.
Stimulate Baihui (one point, in the center of the vertex within the hair whorl), Jianyu (two points, in the depression between the two bones at the shoulder end, accessible by raising the arm), Quchi (two points, in the depression at the head of the transverse cubital crease on the lateral side of the elbow, accessible by arching the hands towards the chest), Fengshi (two points, in the depression at the midpoint of the middle finger when standing with arms hanging down, level with the lateral knee ribs), Zusanli (two points, in the depression between the large tendon and bone, three cun below the knee on the lateral aspect of the tibia), and Yangjiao/Juegu (two points, in the arterial pulse three cun above the lateral malleolus).
Whenever one feels itching or numbness/pain in the limbs that lasts for a long time, this is a precursor to Fu organ stroke. Moxibustion should be applied to these seven points. If the disease is on the left, moxa on the right; if on the right, moxa on the left.
Discussion on wind pathogen affecting the Zang organs, presenting with Qi obstruction, rising phlegm, aphasia, and coma. Fire moxibustion yields immediate results.
Stimulate Baihui (one point, in the center of the vertex within the hair whorl), Fengchi (one point, in the depression at the posterior hairline of the temporal region), Dazhui (two points, in the depression above the first thoracic vertebra in the nape), Jianjing (two points, in the depression on the shoulder, one and a half cun anterior to the supraclavicular fossa on the prominent bone, found by pressing with three fingers so the middle finger falls in the center), Quchi (two points, as above), Jianshi (two points, three cun proximal to the wrist crease between the two tendons), and Zusanli (two points, as above).
Whenever one feels mental confusion, lack of spirit, or limb numbness/paralysis, this is a precursor to Zang organ stroke. Regardless of whether it is wind-dampness or Qi stagnation, quickly moxa these seven points in sequence, five to seven cones per point, daily. Stop at the number of cones corresponding to the patient's age for optimal results. Those with a history of wind disorders must pay special attention. This moxibustion method ensures safety.
This method can also treat sudden death. When wind pathogen strikes violently, patients may suddenly fear pain and refuse moxibustion, leading to sudden death. What disease is this? It is wind entering the Zang organs.
Discussion on sudden aphonia. Quickly moxa four cun below the umbilicus, and the bony depression at the pubic hairline near the urethra, fourteen cones each. For severe cases, twenty-eight cones. Also moxa the tips of the middle fingers of the dominant hand and foot (left for men, right for women), three cones each, with divine efficacy.
Discussion on epilepsy, regardless of the five types. Moxa the meeting point of the middle fingers of both hands, with divine efficacy.
For full-blown seizures, moxa Shenmai (Yang Qiao Mai), located at the red-white flesh junction below the lateral malleolus. For night-onset seizures, moxa Zhaohai (Yin Qiao Mai), located at the red-white flesh junction below the medial malleolus, fourteen cones each.
For mania and insanity unresponsive to other treatments, tightly bind the thumbs of both hands and feet with a soft rope, then moxa three cones. The moxa should cover four areas, half on the flesh and half on the nail. Burning all four areas completely is effective. This method is divinely efficacious.
Discussion on the secret method for sleep paralysis (nightmare death).
Nightmare death occurs due to daily deficiency of Shen Qi, causing the Shen to not reside in its house during sleep. For nightmare death, have the deceased bite the heel/big toenail side of the living person, and they will revive.
Another method: blow powder from Gleditsia sinensis (Ya Zao) into the nose, which is also excellent. If one or two watches have passed, moxibustion can also be used.
Another method: moxa Dadun (seven cones) to awaken.
Discussion on women contracting this disease during menstruation, with intermittent attacks of limb convulsions resembling chicken claws and pain. Locate the small depressions on both sides of the kneecaps, four points in total, commonly called "Ghost Eyes." Moxa three cones each for cure.
For Yin toxicity abdominal pain with impending pulse disappearance: First, moxa three cones each at the tips of the middle fingers of the hand and foot (left for men, right for women). Then moxa Qihai (1.5 cun below the umbilicus) and Guanyuan (3 cun below the umbilicus), seven cones each, extremely effective.
Discussion on True Yin Syndrome: cold limbs, stabbing abdominal pain. Urgently administer Da Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), and Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus). If the medicine feels like ice upon ingestion, it indicates extreme cold in the Middle Jiao. Urgently moxa two points above the umbilicus, two below, and two on either side, seven cones each, with divine efficacy.
Discussion on the diagnostic and therapeutic method for Cold Yin Syndrome. If limbs are warm, pulse is present, consciousness is retained, and sweating occurs, there is life; if cold and unconscious, death ensues.
Qihai is 1.5 cun below the umbilicus. Dantian is 2 cun below. Guanyuan is 3 cun below. Moxa twenty-one cones.
Discussion on the treatment for Asthma/Wheezing.
The areas on both sides of the chest are named Yuzhong and Danzhong. Moxa Baihui (one point) for immediate cure.
Discussion on Cholera with vomiting and diarrhea, and sudden coughing/wheezing in Taiyang disease that continues incessantly.
Rugen is in the bony depression directly below the nipple, about one finger-width wide. For women, measure using the nipple itself; the level of the nipple is the point. Use moxa cones the size of a wheat grain, moxa three cones. Left for men, right for women. Cure upon application. Only three cones; do not over-moxa.
Discussion for hiccups and coughing/wheezing: Moxa Qihai three to five cones. Qihai is directly 1.5 cun below the umbilicus.
Secret method for moxa treating malaria, regardless of new or old onset.
Have the patient lie supine. Measure the distance between the nipples, halve it, and extend downwards from the nipple to the end of the line; this is the point. Moxa left for men, right for women.
Treatment for malaria like a deity.
Have the patient stand barefoot on a flat surface with feet together. Take a string, wrap it around the soles of the feet, pass it over the neck and down the back. The ends of the string meet at the center of the spine; this is the point. Mark it first. When the malaria is about to attack, urgently moxa here, twenty-one cones. The chills and fever will stop spontaneously. This method was transmitted by a master, indescribably wonderful, named Beijian Point.
Discussion on abdominal accumulation, constipation, various heart/abdominal pains, or borborygmus and diarrhea. Mash Croton seed (Badou) meat into a cake, fill the umbilicus, and moxa three cones, up to one hundred cones, stopping when effective.
Method for moxa treating chronic cough lasting years. Locate the depression below the nipple, about one finger-width away, directly opposite the nipple without deviation, named Zhigu Point. For women, press the nipple straight down to find the location. Moxa three cones, sized like a red bean. Moxa left for men, right for women. Do not err. The cough will heal; otherwise, the disease is incurable.
Moxa treating Tuberculosis parasites (Lao Chong). On the day of Gui Hai, moxa the depressions in both loins, seven cones per point. Eleven cones are even better. Mark the points the day before and sleep. At midnight Zi hour, upon the arrival of Gui Hai, continue moxa. The parasites will exit via stool; burn them and discard in rivers. If the parasite has a black mouth, it has damaged the Kidneys internally and is incurable. Avoid these parasites. Tuberculosis involves various parasites: centipedes, small snakes, toads, horse tails, tangled threads, rotten dough, flies, wall oil insects (purple top, white bottom, sharp shape, thin legs, with mouths), or white ants emerging from pores. These are the root toxins of consumption.
Discussion on Sihua Points. Treating bone-steaming fever. Measure the width of the mouth with a rice straw core. Cut paper squares of this length, punch a small hole in the center. Step on a long rice straw with the foot, measuring from the big toe to the ankle crease. Break the straw. Hold the broken straw against the Adam's apple, letting it hang down the back. Where it stops, place the paper square with the hole in the center, dividing it into four flowers. Moxa the corners of the paper. Seven cones. These four points correspond exactly to Ge Shu and Dan Shu (four points) on the second line of the Bladder channel on the back.
For diarrhea lasting three to five years: Moxa Baihui five to seven cones for cure (some cured after twenty to thirty cones).
For infants or adults with prolonged vomiting/diarrhea nearing death:
Stimulate Tianshu (two points, two cun lateral to the umbilicus), Qihai (one point, 1.5 cun below the umbilicus), and Zhongwan (one point, four cun above the umbilicus).
For cholera where the patient appears dead but warmth remains in the abdomen: Fill the umbilicus with salt and moxa indefinitely.
For fatal regurgitation (Fan Wei): Left for men, right for women. Hold a stick horizontally at shoulder height. Locate the depression on the shoulder, named Jianjing, moxa three cones for effect.
Divine efficacy for regurgitation and dysphagia.
Gaohuang (two points: Have patient cross arms on shoulders to open scapulae. Palpate two cun lateral to the fourth thoracic vertebra, between the third and fourth ribs. Tenderness indicates the point. During moxa, keep arms pressed down. Moxa up to one hundred cones for best results), Danzhong (one point: In the depression between the nipples on the midline of the chest, found by extending elbows upward, moxa seven cones), Zusanli (two points: Between the two tendons, three cun below the umbilicus, moxa seven cones).
Discussion on headache radiating to teeth, intermittent, chronic, termed Jue Ni Headache.
Stimulate Qubin (two points): Curl the ear forward, locate the tip directly above. Moxa five to seven cones. Left pain moxa left, right pain moxa right.
For toothache: Locate the shoulder tip on the affected side, slightly posterior in the bone gap. Raise the arm slightly to find the depression at the bone joint. Moxa five cones. After moxa, severe neck pain will occur and subside after a while, preventing recurrence forever.
For toothache unresponsive to all medicines: Use moxa cones the size of wheat grains. Moxa the apex of the ears directly in front of the tragus, three cones for immediate relief.
Divine method for treating Heart Pain.
Tenderness in the depression behind both elbows is the point. First, drink half a cup of hot sesame oil soup. Then, mix moxa with water powder, roll into cones, and moxa five cones at each site. Pain stops immediately.
Wonderful method for hernia/Qi pain.
One castor bean (Bimazi) per year of age, peeled and mashed. Apply to the fontanelle on the head. Have the patient lie supine, press soles together, and tie the middle fingers of both hands together with a strap. At the seam between the fingers, apply a moxa cone the size of a wheat grain, moxa seven cones. Pain stops instantly, divine efficacy.
Discussion on Gu disease and masses.
Stimulate Zhongwan (one point, or split into three parts, 3 cun), Youguan (two points), Fen Shui (one point on the right), Zhangmen (one point on the left).
Also, measure a line equal to the length of the patient's five fingers, form a circle, and slide a copper coin down the back. Where the coin stops on the spine is the reference point.
Wonderful method for masses/accumulation.
Tie an ancient Kaiyuan coin with double thread, hang it around the neck at a moderate position. Let it hang straight down the chest, aligning the hole with the umbilicus. Take the top thread, hang it from the throat, let it drape down the back until the coin hole aligns with the umbilicus. Mark the center of the hole with ink, and mark the two sides of the coin. Moxa each mark once, up to ten-plus cones. Take other medicines afterwards. Masses dissipate rapidly.
Discussion on Jaundice.
Count down to the thirteenth thoracic vertebra on the spine. Measure one cun laterally on both sides. Moxa three cones for effect.
Good method for Epistaxis.
In the depression between the two tendons at the posterior hairline of the neck, moxa three cones for immediate cessation. This is the method for epistaxis entering the brain.
Secret method for treating epistaxis.
Urgently wrap a thread around the little toe. For left nostril bleed, use left toe; for right, use right. If both bleed, use both. Moxa three cones on the fleshy part of the toe, sized like a green bean. If bleeding is heavy and persistent, flex the thumb and moxa three cones at the tip of the metacarpophalangeal joint. Cross-treat: left bleed moxa right, right bleed moxa left. If both bleed, treat both.
Secret method for continuous lower GI bleeding.
Mingmen (one point): Use two bamboo strips, measure from the ground to the center of the umbilicus. Have the patient stand flat. Extend the measurement backwards from the ground to the end of the spine; this is the point. Press the point; if tender, moxa. If not tender, do not moxa. Moxa up to seven cones to eradicate the root and prevent recurrence.
For Intestinal Wind and Zang Toxicity rectal bleeding persisting for a long time: Have the patient stand flat and measure the spine level with the umbilicus. Moxa seven cones on the vertebra. For chronic cases, additionally moxa seven cones one cun lateral to the vertebra on both sides. Root eradication is guaranteed.
Moxa for hemorrhoids: First wash hemorrhoids with strong decoction of willow branches. Moxa on top, three to five consecutive cones. Suddenly feel a stream of Qi turning into the intestines, followed by severe diarrhea, first blood then feces.
Secret method for rectal prolapse.
Stimulate Baihui (one point) and Weili (one point at the coccyx), moxa three cones each. Cone size: wheat grain. At noon, bathe clean with peach and willow branch decoction, then moxa for immediate effect.
