A Discussion on Jiawan Miasma. The toxic vapor steaming from stream sources manifests as blood rushing to the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner). As the disease is about to onset, it causes confusion and dizziness; in severe cases, it leads to irritability and madness. Some may become mute and unable to speak. All these are caused by ruined blood stasis in the Heart and toxic saliva/phlegm accumulating in the Spleen Meridian. One should use Quzhang Decoction (Malaria-Expelling Decoction).
