Paragraph 1: Discussion on women aged forty-two or forty-three whose menstrual flow has ceased; at fifty-one or fifty-two, it returns. It may be dripping continuously or coming out in clumps and strips, with unstoppable leakage. It is suitable to take Hejing Tang (Harmonizing Menses Decoction), combined with Siwu Bu Jing Tang (Four Substances Decoction for Nourishing Menses) and Wuji Wan (Black Chicken Pill), taken alternately for recovery. When using Hejing Tang, after three doses, remove the Qi-regulating herbs, namely Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), and Xiaohui (Foeniculi Fructus).
Hejing Tang (Harmonizing Menses Decoction)
Baishao (White Peony Root, stir-fried with wine, 1 qian 2 fen) Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Radix, washed with wine) Shudihuang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix) Baifushen (Poria with Hostwood, 1 qian) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 1 qian) Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma, 1 qian) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, de-gorged, 1 qian) Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 1 qian) Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, fried, 1 qian) Puhuang (Typhae Pollen, fried, 1 qian) Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin, 1 qian) Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 1 qian) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) Xiaohui (Foeniculi Fructus, stir-fried with wine, each 7 fen)
Crush the above ingredients. For each dose, use 1 liang. Decoct with fresh ginger and jujube, and take hot.
The formulas for Siwu Bu Jing Tang (Four Substances Decoction for Nourishing Menses) and Wuji Wan (Black Chicken Pill) are seen in the preceding text.
Paragraph 2: Generally, when women have irregular menstruation, either early or late, either abundant or scanty, accompanied by frequent dizziness and blurred vision, tinnitus, red and white leukorrhea, waist and abdominal pain, heavy and lethargic limbs, five-palm heat, chest and diaphragm stuffiness, loss of appetite, and emaciation. This formula treats all sorts of diseases. It is suitable to use this Tiaojing Zibu Wan (Regulate Menses and Tonify Deficiency Pill).
Tiaojing Zibu Wan (Regulate Menses and Tonify Deficiency Pill)
Xiangfumii (Cyperi Rhizoma, soaked separately in wine, vinegar, child's urine, and salt water for one liang each, then stir-fried dry, total four liang) Huaishengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, soaked in wine, steamed, fried until black, two liang) Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Radix, washed with wine, two liang) Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) Baishao (White Peony Root, stir-fried with wine, each one liang) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, de-gorged and stir-fried, two liang) Baifuling (Poria, peeled, one liang) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) Huaishanyao (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma) Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex) Xiaohui (Foeniculi Fructus, stir-fried with salt and wine) Yuanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma) Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin, stir-fried with clam powder) Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus, steamed with wine, pips removed, each one liang)
Grind the above into fine powder. Use wine and vinegar to make a flour paste to form pills, sized like wu zi (wutong seeds). Take one hundred pills per dose, on an empty stomach, washed down with rice soup.
Paragraph 3: Discussion on women over fifty whose menstruation still does not cease, coming irregularly and unpredictably. One should prevent the occurrence of sepsis (blood poisoning). This pill is very effective.
Shiquan Dan (Ten Complete Pill)
Dangguitou (Angelica Sinensis Radix head, two liang) Huaishanyao (Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma, three liang) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, three liang) Renshen (Ginseng Radix, two liang) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, stir-fried with wine, two liang) Mianyishuyu (Sanguisorbae Radix, two liang) Lujiaoshuang (Cornu Cervi Degelatinatum, three liang) Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, soaked in wine and stir-fried, two liang) Baifushen (Poria with Hostwood, peeled and de-core, one liang) Huaishengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, soaked in wine and dried, four liang)
Grind the above together into fine powder. Use three liang of Aiye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium), two jin of water, decoct until one jin remains, remove dregs. Add six liang of Fuxiaomai Fen (Tritici Levis Semen) flour, mix evenly, cook until thickened into a paste, and mix with the medicinal powder to form pills. Take one hundred and fifty pills daily on an empty stomach, washed down with decoction of Bianbaiye (Platycladi Cacumen).
Paragraph 4: Treating women who vomit phlegm due to anger, with pain in the chest and diaphragm. Taking Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), Erchen Tang (Two Aged Decoction), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus) etc., was ineffective. Recently adding wind-dispelling agents resulted in hemiplegia, gradual tendon contraction and spasms, flaccidity of the four limbs, worsening in the afternoon, internal heat, dry mouth, and physical fatigue. I considered this to be damage to the Spleen and Liver due to depression and anger, causing further depletion of Blood and Qi. Thus, I used Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder), Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction), and Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) for treatment. Fortunately, the patient adhered strictly to medical advice, and after more than a year, she recovered completely, becoming healthy and robust.
Paragraph 5: Treating women with afternoon fever, emaciated and fatigued physique, tasteless food, amenorrhea. Or epistaxis, or prolonged metrorrhagia. Using Qi-smoothing and heat-clearing agents was ineffective. Additionally experiencing alternating chills and fever, and frequent nausea. This is caused by depression and anger damaging the Spleen and Stomach, leading to deficient fire wandering incorrectly along the vessels. Use Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) combined with Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia).
Paragraph 6: Treating women who are prone to anger, with menstruation lasting over ten days before stopping, followed by indefinite dripping. Physical fatigue and emaciation, dry mouth, internal heat, night sweats profuse as if washing, and increased heat in the afternoon. All these are due to Liver and Spleen deficiency, unable to generate Yuan Qi (Original Qi).
Use Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction), adding Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Longyanrou (Longan Arillus).
