Shuang Jian Jin (Double Sword Gold):
Indicated for惊痫 (Startle Epilepsy) with hemiconvulsions.
Scolopendra Subspinipes mutilans (one piece) Mantis religiosa (one large purple specimen)
Dry the above items until completely dry. Using a sharp knife, split them along the dorsal midline into left and right halves. Grind each side separately into fine powder; do not mix them. Store each side in separate small paper patches, labeling them "Left" and "Right". When treating a patient, take approximately one Zi amount of powder and insufflate it into either nostril depending on the side of convulsion. Treat the left side for left-sided convulsions, and the right side for right-sided convulsions. If both sides are convulsing, allowing the right side to stop will halt the right-side convulsion, and allowing the left side to stop will halt the left-side convulsion. If both need control, manage them accordingly.
Shuang Jin San (Double Gold Powder):
Treatment method as described above.
Take one large Scolopendra, remove the head, legs, and tail. Coat it with genuine butter (Su), and roast slowly over low heat until yellow. Let it cool. Facing south, use a sharp bamboo knife to split it along the dorsal seam into two halves. Use two patches labeled "Left" and "Right"; do not cross-contaminate, as errors lead to mistakes. Take one Qian of Moschus, also divided into left and right portions. First, place half of the left portion into the patch labeled "Left", grind it together with the left half of the Scolopendra into a fine powder, and store it in that patch. Next, place half of the right portion into the patch labeled "Right", grind it together with the right half of the Scolopendra into a fine powder, and store it in that patch. Do not allow cross-contamination. Whenever encountering a patient whose eyes roll up showing only the whites, who is convulsing, unconscious, and unable to make sounds, use a thin reed tube to insufflate a small amount of medicine into the nostril corresponding to the side of the convulsion. Do not use too much medicine. If the eyes have not rolled down yet, add a little more, judging by intuition. The eyes will drop immediately, and the convulsions will cease. The rest follows the same method. These two prescriptions must not be confused.
Bao Shou San (Longevity-Preserving Powder):
Indicated for Startle Epilepsy with hemiconvulsions.
Realgar (ground finely, processed by levigation) Poria (black skin removed) Ginseng Radix (radicle removed, each Yi Fen) Cinnabaris (Ban Liang, ground and levigated) Natrii Sulfas (Yi Qian)
Grind all ingredients into a uniform fine powder. Each time, take half a Qian, mixed with warm water, and take orally. For one-year-old infants, take one Zi amount. Take at any time.
