又方 治如前。白矾雄黄各半两。研为细末。生油调成膏。用皂子许塞耳。虫自出。
There are nodules growing on the skin of infants and children, sized like wheat grains or beans. Their color is identical to the surrounding skin and flesh, known as verrucae (warts). Some grow one or two, while others grow in continuous clusters. If cut open, the interior resembles knotted sinews, with slight bleeding, and texture similar to muscle. This arises from wind-pathogens lodging and clashing, causing changes in blood and qi. Another type starts small but gradually enlarges over time due to proliferation, named tumors (liu). These also result from pathogenic clashes and alterations in blood and qi; as blood and qi circulate freely over time, they continue to grow. The following prescriptions are described:
Use a needle or small knife to incise around the verruca until slight bleeding occurs. Apply pus from the wound of a person suffering from a sore onto the affected area, keeping it dry from water. After three days, the pus will ulcerate, the root will loosen, and it will fall off naturally. Stir-fry white sorghum flour in a pot until reddish-brown. Mix with saliva and apply thickly (about one cun) to the area, which will cause resolution.
For treating multiple verrucae growing in clusters (ten or more): Use one moxa cone, sized like a wheat grain or bean, to moxibustion the first verruca that appeared, termed the "verruca mother." The rest will resolve spontaneously. For larger nodules, slightly increase the number of moxa cones.
For treating tumors: Take over ten flower spiders found on rice stalks. Place them on peach tree branches and wait for them to spin silk downwards. Collect the silk from the eastern side, twist it into a thread, and tie it around the tumor. Replace every seven days. The tumor will fall off naturally. Shen Xingzong, a Daizhi official, had an elderly mother with a tumor the size of a fist. Using this method, after three replacements, the tumor dried and fell off, found by her pillow, resembling a dried chestnut.
Infants and children may be bitten or stung by various venomous insects, often during hot summer months when cooling down, undressing, and lying on the ground. Accidental contact leads to bites or stings causing unbearable pain, lasting until nightfall. Severe cases may radiate pain to one side of the body without relief. There are also toxic swellings where sores become swollen and ulcerated, causing great suffering. Sometimes insects enter the ear accidentally while lying down and cannot exit. The following prescriptions are provided:
For snake bites: Apply a mixture of fresh pig blood and realgar powder to the wound. In emergencies, using only pig blood is also effective. Using realgar alone is ineffective. First wash the wound with cold water and dry it. Grind one heaping measure of cornel fruit (Zhu Yu) with half a bowl of water to extract juice, drink it, and apply the dregs to the wound.
Another prescription: Take cornel fruit powder mixed with wine orally. Apply cornel fruit powder mixed with oil topically to the wound.
For severe snakebite toxicity attacking internally, causing unbearable swelling and pain: Apply human feces thickly to the area, wrapping with cotton to reduce inflammation. Alternatively, mix equal parts of alum and realgar powder. Heat the mixture on the tip of a knife until melted, then drip onto the wound for spontaneous healing.
For scorpion stings: Have the patient chew Ekle vine thoroughly and apply the paste. Alternatively, have the patient chew dried ginger thoroughly and apply.
For centipede bites: Grind raw iron in vinegar and apply the juice. This also treats spider bites. Grind a single-clove garlic and apply to the bite site until pain ceases. Place a live spider on the bite site; it will naturally suck out the toxin, and pain will cease immediately. Release the spider when its abdomen swells, and use another spider as before. Otherwise, it may burst and die, potentially harming life, so release it. Soak used spiders in water to neutralize their toxicity and keep them alive.
For spider bites: Place a live earthworm inside a tube made of green onion leaves. Pinch both ends tightly to prevent air leakage and shake frequently until it liquefies. Drip this liquid onto the bite site. This method also treats millipedes entering the ear. Instill the liquid into the ear to dissolve the insect.
For gecko bites: Apply soap pod powder mixed with ginger juice. If the skin is broken, apply meat from dried plums (Wu Mei).
For millipedes entering the ear: Pour strong vinegar into the ear to expel the insect. Alternatively, pour garlic juice, donkey milk, or a piece of borneol (Long Nao) the size of a soybean tied with a thread. If the left ear is affected, plug the right ear, and vice versa. Immediate effect. Or pour sesame oil into the ear.
Another prescription: Treat as above.
Dao Ren Tou (identity unknown), Toosendan leaf (Lian Ye), Plantago seed (Che Qian Zi) (equal parts).
Grind all into powder, mix with saliva, and place at the ear opening. The insect will exit naturally. The prescriber tested this by intentionally inserting a millipede into the ear, and it exited successfully.
For various insects entering the ear: Mix pepper powder with vinegar and pour into the ear. Walk for a distance equivalent to ten li; the insect will exit. Alternatively, roast pork until fragrant and cooked, cover the ear with it; the insect will exit upon smelling the aroma.
Another prescription: Treat as above. Mix half tael each of alum and realgar, grind into fine powder, and form a paste with raw sesame oil. Insert a amount the size of a soap nut into the ear; the insect will exit.
