If a child is accidentally injured by a sharp knife or hard object, causing damage to the skin and muscles. For mild and superficial injuries, although there may be bleeding, it will not be life-threatening. For severe and deep injuries, meridians may be damaged, leading to continuous bleeding. Additionally, some cases involve wind-pathogen invasion due to the wound, resulting in trismus (lockjaw) and rigidity of the body, commonly known as "tetanus" (Po Shang Feng).
Treatment for various metallic weapon injuries:
Areca Seed (Binglang), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, removed stamens, each 1 liang), Aucklandia Root (Muxiang, 0.5 liang).
Grind the above herbs into a fine powder. If injured by any metal blade with bleeding and pain, apply the powder to the wound. Once bleeding stops, there will be no pain or suppuration. In case of severed finger where blood has not yet stopped, quickly wrap the wound with the medicine to facilitate reconnection and healing.
Another prescription for treating various metallic weapon injuries with continuous bleeding:
Areca Seed (Binglang), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, removed stamens), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao, each 1 liang), Phellodendron Bark (Huangbai, 0.5 liang).
Grind the above herbs into a fine powder. Sprinkle an appropriate amount onto the wound. Once bleeding stops, exposure to water is permissible.
Another prescription, treating as described above: Apply a powder made from White Peony Root (Baishyaoyao) to the wound to stop bleeding.
Another prescription for deep metallic injuries: Do not use medicine to force rapid closure, as this may cause internal ulceration and muscle damage. Instead, simply apply a fine powder of Lead Oxide (Huandan) and Talcum (Huashi).
Tian E San (Silkworm Moth Powder)
For treating various metallic injuries, take Silkworm Moth (Wan Can E) in any quantity, grind into a fine powder, sprinkle on the wound, and cover with silk gauze. Bleeding stops immediately and the wound closes; this is highly effective.
Another prescription, treating as described above: Clean Fungus Gall (Wubeizi) thoroughly, grind into powder, and apply to the injured area. Bleeding stops immediately, and healing occurs without scarring.
Another prescription, treating as described above: Use Magnetitum (Cishi) powder, burnt felt ash, ash from steamer bands, or Qianjin Duanshi Mi. If in a hurry, applying any one of these single ingredients to the wound is acceptable.
Treatment for tetanus (Po Shang Feng) with trismus and rigidity:
Take Arisaema Rhizome (Tiannanxing, one piece) and Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng, two cun). Grind together into a fine powder. First, wash the wound with urine from a healthy boy, then apply the medicine. The discharge of red fluid indicates efficacy.
Another prescription, treating as described above: Slice Cistanche Stem (Roucongrong), dry it in the sun. Place a small cup with a hole in the bottom, cover it, and heat over fire. When smoke from the herb emerges from the hole, fumigate the wound. This has been repeatedly verified as effective.
Another prescription, treating as described above: Take high-quality Fish Maw (Biao Jiao, 2 qian), roast until charred, and grind into powder. Mix with hot water and take orally, divided into two doses. Another method: Place fish maw between two tiles and burn until smoke ceases, grind into fine powder, mix with hot wine, and take orally. Recovery occurs with sweating.
Another prescription for tetanus causing opisthotonos (reversal of the spine), open lockjaw, and limb rigidity: Take half a sheng of Chicken Droppings (White part) (Jifen Bai) and two and a half sheng of Soybean (Dadou). Stir-fry together until the color changes. While hot, pour wine over them, simmer slightly until the bean flavor is released, and drink according to the patient's tolerance.
Zhui Feng San (Wind-Chasing Powder)
For treating tetanus: Take four Aconite Lateral Root Preparations (Caowutou), two raw and two processed (pao), and twenty-eight Sichuan Pepper grains (Jiao). Grind into powder and apply to the wound. Wind-toxin will naturally exit.
Another prescription, treating as described above: Grind forty Black Beans (Heidou) and one zi-amount of Cinnabar (Zhusha) into powder. Mix with half a cup of wine and take one zi-amount. The disease will resolve.
Another prescription, treating as described above: Take a pinch of Wheat Flour (Baifan) and salt, mix with fresh water, and apply to the wound.
Another prescription, treating as described above: Shave Sappan Wood (Sumu), decoct into a concentrated juice, and irrigate the wound. Repeat more than ten times without interruption. Discharge of yellow fluid from the wound indicates efficacy.
Another prescription for wounds forming white eschars with no bleeding, which is most rapidly fatal: Grind direct feces of male sparrows (Xiongque Zhifen), mix with hot wine, and take one zi-amount or half a qian.
Another empirical prescription for tetanus: Burn hair from the top of a dog's head to ash and apply to the wound.
