Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Prepared Aconite Root) weighs one tael, three qian, and four fen. Select those with a lotus-petal shape, round head, and flat bottom, and prepare them first. Prepare five or six bowls of Tongbian (Child's Urine). Place the Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata in the middle of the stove's smoke cabinet for a long time. While still hot, throw it into the Tongbian. Soak for five to seven days. Wait until it is thoroughly moistened, then peel off the skin. Cut into four pieces. Soak again for two to three days. Wrap in several layers of coarse paper, wet it, and bury it in ash and fire for half a day. Take it out and slice it. Check if there are white spots; if so, roast it on a tile until cooked through. Continue roasting until no white spots remain. If urgent use is required, cut into large slices. Boil in Tongbian for two or three boils. Use on a hot tile after cooking.
Luffae Fructus Retinervia (Loofah Sponge), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Black Cohosh Rhizome), Paeoniae Radix Alba (White Peony Root) (stir-fried with wine), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Recens (Fresh Licorice Root), Crataegi Fructus (Hawthorn Fruit), Phaseoli Semen Nigrum (Black Soybean), Phaseoli Semen Rubrum (Red Bean), Rhinocerotis Cornu (Rhinoceros Horn) (sliced thinly, equal parts of each).
Grind the above ingredients into a coarse powder. For each dose, take three qian. Add one large cup of water. Decoct until only six-tenths remains. Strain to remove dregs. Take at any time, slowly and warm. Adjust the dosage according to the child's age and size.
Use rat meat, after removing the skin. Cook thoroughly in water. Give to the child to eat several times, depending on the child's size. This results in very sparse smallpox lesions. It is especially effective when consumed before introducing meat into the diet. Repeated trials have verified its efficacy.
