Mao Gen Tang (White Imperata Decoction), a formula for treating warm diseases with internal heat caused by suddenly drinking cold water.
Bai Mao Gen (Rhizoma Imperatae Cylindricae, 白茅根) and Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, 葛根) (each half sheng, cut).
Take the above two herbs, add four sheng of water, decoct to obtain two sheng of liquid, drink when slightly warm, and stop taking it when symptoms cease.
A formula for treating warm diseases where heat has not been eliminated, followed by sudden exposure to cold under heavy quilts, causing cold toxin to enter the stomach, with heat accumulating and knotting without dispersing, leading to pathological changes.
Boil Zi Pi (Cortex Catalpae, 梓皮) alone; drinking it slowly is beneficial. In warm diseases involving accumulation of cold drinks, with cold knotting in the stomach and heat entering the kidney, resulting in severe fever, taking Zi Pi can stop the condition. If there is heat in the kidney, after recovery from illness, the skin on the soles of the feet tends to peel off, and hair falls out; this is the manifestation of the syndrome.
Mao Gen Ju Pi Tang (White Imperata and Tangerine Peel Decoction), a formula for treating seasonal cold toxins injuring the stomach during spring and summer, causing stomach cold and subsequent pathological changes.
Bai Mao Gen (Rhizoma Imperatae Cylindricae, 白茅根) (cut, one sheng), Ju Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, 橘皮) (two liang), Gui Xin (Lignum Cinnamomi Cassiae, 桂心) (two liang), Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, 葛根) (two liang).
Cut the above four herbs, add six sheng of water, decoct to obtain three sheng of liquid, divide into three doses, take warm, each dose three he, continue taking multiple times until finished, then prepare again; stop only when symptoms cease. If there is slight heat, reduce Gui Xin by one liang.
Zhi Mu Jie Ji Tang (Anemarrhenae Muscle-Relieving Decoction), a formula for treating warm diseases presenting with headache, irritability and pain in bones and muscles, dry mouth, and mental oppression; or for summer seasonal toxic qi with external cold and internal heat; or for cases where purgation has already been performed but residual heat remains; or for patients with natural dysentery following a febrile disease accompanied by deficiency heat, irritability, and thirst.
Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, 麻黄) (two liang, remove joints), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 知母) (three liang), Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, 葛根) (three liang), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 石膏) (three liang, crushed, wrapped in cloth), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草) (two liang, honey-fried).
Cut the above five herbs, add seven sheng of water, decoct to obtain three sheng of liquid, divide into three doses. If purgation has occurred or spontaneous diarrhea has happened, and deficiency heat persists, remove Ma Huang and increase Zhi Mu and Ge Gen. If heat persists and seminal emission occurs due to dreams, remove Ma Huang and add Bai Wei (Cortex Glehniae, 白薇) and Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix, 人参) each two liang to stop the condition. Avoid Hai Zao (Sargassum, 海藻) and Song Cai (Brassica rapa var. pekinensis, 菘菜).
Ge Gen Ju Pi Tang (Pueraria and Tangerine Peel Decoction), a formula for treating winter-warm disease that did not manifest immediately, was suppressed by accumulated cold in spring, failed to disperse, and upon summer heat, the spring cold resolved and winter-warm toxin emerged, causing macular eruptions and urticaria resembling brocade patterns in the skin, cough, mental oppression, vomiting, and expulsion of clear fluid. Taking this decoction will calm the condition.
Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, 葛根) (two liang), Ju Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, 橘皮) (two liang), Xing Ren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed, 杏仁) (two liang, remove tips, skins, and twin kernels), Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, 麻黄) (two liang, remove joints), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 知母) (two liang), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩) (two liang), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草) (two liang, honey-fried).
Cut the above seven herbs, add seven sheng of water, decoct to obtain three sheng of liquid, divide into three warm doses. Vomiting and oppression should settle first, then observe cautiously. Avoid Hai Zao (Sargassum, 海藻) and Song Cai (Brassica rapa var. pekinensis, 菘菜).
For treating warm-toxin induced macules. Red macules indicate five deaths to one survival; black macules indicate ten deaths to one survival; major epidemics are difficult to save. Hei Nu Wan (Black Slave Pill) formula.
Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, 麻黄) (three liang, remove joints), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄) (two liang), Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas, 芒硝) (one liang, added separately), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩) (one liang), Fu Di Mo (Furnace Bottom Ink, 釜底墨) (one liang, ground and added).
Grind the above ingredients into powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of a bullet. Take one pill ground in five ge of fresh well water. If thirsty, give only water; shortly thereafter, chills will occur, followed by sweating, and the disease will resolve. If no effect is felt after half a day, take another pill. This treats "huai bing" (ruined disease) characterized by constant high heat in the chest and lockjaw for six days, which physicians cannot treat.
Da Huang Tang (Rhubarb Decoction), for treating seasonal epidemics where symptoms persist after five to six days, presenting with headache, severe fever, limb irritability and pain, and inability to eat.
Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄) (half liang), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 黄连) (half liang, remove hairs), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex, 黄柏) (half liang), Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus, 栀子) (half liang, broken).
Cut the above four herbs, add eight sheng of water, boil for six or seven boils, add Chi Dou (Fermented Soybean, 豆豉) one sheng and Cong Bai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus, 葱白) seven stems, decoct to obtain three sheng of liquid, divide into three doses. This is Xu Tuiran's formula, divine and excellent. It also treats cold damage persisting for five to six days with headache, severe fever, limb irritability and pain, inducing sweat; suitable for both old and young. Avoid pork and cold water.
Zheng Chao Tu Su Jiu (New Year's Day Tusu Wine) method, preventing people from contracting warm epidemics.

Retrieve it before morning ceremonies on New Year's Day. Place the medicine in wine on New Year's Day and drink facing east. Placing the medicine in the well welcomes the new year, potentially eradicating the disease; this is Hua Tuo's method. Emperor Wu had a verified formula: drink from youngest to oldest according to tolerance; if one person drinks, the whole family is safe. Drink for three days. Another version includes Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 防风) one liang.
