Crush the above twenty-four ingredients, sift into fine powder, mix evenly with separately ground medicines. Then grind silver and gold foil with three fen of mercury until paste-like, and mix thoroughly with the powder. Form pills the size of mung beans using refined honey. Adults take five pills each time, washed down with mint wine; children take three pills, washed down with mint decoction. *Lingyuan* uses this to treat all wind syndromes in adults and children, and chronic epilepsy.
**Tianwu San Formula (also known as Hugu San)**
December crow (one, remove feathers, beak, claws, stomach, and intestines), December wild fox liver (one set, place with previous items inside a dough cake, seal tightly, burn to ash), musk (ground), Gastrodiae Rhizoma (Tianma) and rhinoceros horn chips (each half liang), dried scorpion, white silkworm (Baijiangcan), cicada slough, bovine calculus (Niuhuang, ground, more is better), Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjie, take spikes), Agastaches Herba (Huoxiang), Arisaemae Rhizoma (Tiannanxing, remove heart), Bletillae Rhizoma (Baifuzi), calomelas (Nifen, ground), mantis egg case (Sangpiaoxiao, best scraped from mulberry trees in December, each one liang), snake of genus Elaphe (Wushe, two liang, soaked in wine, roasted, remove skin and bones).
The above sixteen ingredients are finely crushed and sifted into powder. Take half qian each time, mixed with decocted Jingjie soup or Doulin wine on an empty stomach. Children take one zi amount mixed with mint soup. *Yingru* uses this for five-year-old children with high fever causing epilepsy rash and spontaneous diarrhea.
**Wuxian Tang Formula**
Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, twelve fen), Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis (Goutengpi), Vespa Nidus (Fengfang), Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang, remove joints, each two fen), Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu), Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi Ren), Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (Zhimu), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma, each seven fen), Chachanis Cicada (Zechan, three), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao, ten fen, crushed), Ophichthidis Corium (Shetuopi, five cun, roasted), Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren, six fen).
Add seven sheng of water, boil to two sheng, remove dregs. When warm enough for human skin, wipe the body. *Yingru* uses this for neonates with Ke Wu (sudden fright/evil influence), Zhong E (poisoning by evil qi), epilepsy onset, indigestion, wind-stroke with opisthotonos, mouth distortion with tongue protrusion, and Zhu Wu (vampire disease) causing blue face, drooping eyes, abdominal fullness, Ding Xi emaciation with crossed legs, inability to walk at age three.
**Shexiang Shuangwan Formula**
Musk (Shexiang), bovine calculus (Niuhuang), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, each two liang), Cinnamomi Cortex (Guixin), Realgar (Xionghuang), Sepiae Endoconcha (Wuzeiyu, roasted), cinnabar (Dansha), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi, processed), Crotonis Fructus (Badou, sixty grains, peel and stir-fry), Teshengshi (calcined for half a day, each one qian), centipede (Wugong, one, remove head and feet).
The above eleven ingredients: grind Badou separately into fat/paste, mix evenly with powders, combine with honey, pound three thousand times, shape and store airtight. Infants 10 days to 1 month old take rice-grain sized pill; 100-300 days old take sesame-seed sized pill, adjust as needed. Even if illness is mild but severe, increase pill size; do not strictly follow this. Children often resist medicine; sweating should occur after administration. If no sweat and no improvement, administer 4-5 times daily until sweat occurs or cure is achieved. Being bitten by an infant is also considered Ke Wu. Contact with a son while a woman's menstruation is incomplete also causes Ke Wu. If death occurs suddenly due to loss of a child, while the infant is still crying upon landing, scrape the tongue with a finger; if blood like leek leaves appears in the mouth, give two rice-sized pills, once daily for seven days, then stop; all recover. If making half dose, use thirty Badou grains. If making one-third dose, use twenty-seven grains; other herbs are not reduced proportionally. This is considered the best method. If red-headed-footed centipedes are unavailable, use three red ones, removing head and two neck segments; others are unusable.
**Zhenxin Wan Formula**
Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Cinnamomi Cortex (Guixin), Zanthoxyli Pericarpium (Shujiao), Poria (Fuling), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi, processed, each three fen), Asari Radix (Xixin), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Ganjiang), Pinelliae Rhizoma (Banxia), bovine calculus (Niuhuang, each two fen), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng, ten fen), Coptidis Rhizoma (Weibei, five fen), Polygoni Multiflori Caulis (Fang Kui, four fen).
Grind into powder, form small bean-sized pills with honey, take before meals. Five-to-six-year-olds take three pills, three times daily. For alternating chills and fever or deficiency heat, change to Zhimu Wan. For chest Qi distension, change to Xingren Jian. *Yingru* uses this for pediatric epilepsy with frequent attacks impending jue syndrome.
**Huangdi Shishi Zi Yao Shenwan Formula**
Cinnabar (Dansha, nine fen, separately ground), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, six fen), Cinnamomi Cortex (Guixin), Pinelliae Rhizoma (Banxia, washed, each four fen), bovine calculus (Niuhuang), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, each five fen), Yunmu (seven fen), Realgar (Xionghuang, two fen), Teshengshi (twelve fen, refined).
Grind into powder, add Crotonis Fructus (Badou, two fen, remove heart, stir-fry), Polyporus Umbellatus (Leiwan, three fen), Pearl (Zhenzhu, one fen), Haematitum (Daizhe, two fen), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Ganjiang, three fen), grind each into powder, place in new silk bag, steam until equivalent to ten hu of rice is cooked, then remove. Niuhuang, Guixin, Ganjiang, Daizhe separately ground and mixed with previous powder, form millet-sized pills with honey. One-year-olds apply one pill above/below nipple; ten-year-olds take one bean-sized pill, three times daily. *Yingru* uses this for twelve types of pediatric epilepsy.
**Chongming Tang Formula**
Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Asari Radix (Xixin), Dragon Bone (Longgu), Ostrea Concha (Muli, each two fen), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Halloysit Rubrum (Chishizhi), Cinnamomi Cortex (Guixin, each one fen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, four fen), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Ganjiang, three fen).
Twelve ingredients, chopped. For five-year-olds, pinch with five fingers, add seven ge of water and five jujubes (pitted), boil to three ge. Three times daily, one ge per dose; twice in summer. Use Chishizhi if diarrhea occurs. Adjust dosage by age. Add Huangqin two fen if heat or fright present. Store in leather pouch; highly effective. *Yingru* uses this for various pediatric epilepsies.
**Zengqing Tang Formula**
Azurite (Zengqing), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, roasted, two fen), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Asari Radix (Xixin), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Duhuo), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang), Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang, remove joints, each three fen).
Eight ingredients, three sheng water, boil to seven ge. One-month-old takes apricot-kernel sized dose; two-month-old takes two kernels, etc. After decoction, hold infant to induce sweating. If previously had diarrhea, do not induce sweat. If spontaneous sweating, remove Mahuang, add Mahuang Gen one fen. If acute abdominal pain, add Danggui and Shaoyao one fen. If mouth contraction and salivation, add Xixin one fen. If wind-stroke with stiff body, upward staring eyes, and opisthotonos, add Duhuo one fen. Adjust based on suffering; use fresh/spirituous herbs. Divide into five doses, three day/two night. Can be taken at first sign of epilepsy or prophylactically to prevent lifelong epilepsy. Hundreds of daily attacks: this formula cures all. *Yingru* uses this for twenty-five types of pediatric epilepsy with hundreds of daily attacks.
**Siwei Dahuang Tang Formula**
Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, four fen), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, roasted, two fen).
Four ingredients, three sheng water, boil to one sheng, remove dregs. One-month-old takes apricot-kernel size, three times daily; hundred-day-old takes two kernels, standardize thus. If fever, add Mahuang two fen (remove joints, toxic, cut, boil briefly, remove foam, add other herbs). If opisthotonos, upward staring, and convulsions, add Xixin four fen. If indigestion, high fever with excess, double Dahuang dosage compared to others, otherwise equal parts. Split Dahuwang with knife, avoid powder; no need to add if symptoms absent. Adjust by age/strength. Another version: equal parts. If diarrhea, reduce Dahuang by one-third. Hold infant to induce slight sweat; severe cases, heavy sweat; powder with warm talcum afterwards. Do not induce sweat if diarrhea. Four times daily/night. For night crying, slight fever, sucking breast restlessly, can take. Another version: coarse sieve, store in leather pouch. For small dose, boil one and a half sheng water, add three-finger pinch of herbs, boil three times, get six ge, strain, drink. Must use true fresh herbs. Weak Qi infants dislike impure herbs, which harm rather than help; be cautious. This formula is repeatedly effective. Wang Runan addition: for upward staring eyes/wind-stroke/stiff body, add Duhuo two fen, excellent. This is the Siwei Yinzi from *Ge Shi Zhou Hou* and *Yuan He Jing*, differing only in dosage and additions. Those formulas are in Wen Zhuang section. *Yingru* uses this for fifteen types of pediatric epilepsy including irregular feeding, warmth/high fever, vomiting/diarrhea/fright/convulsions, fetal cold/abdominal pain.
**Duhuo Tang Formula**
Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Duhuo), Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang, remove joints), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen, each two fen), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, four fen).
Four ingredients, two sheng water, boil Mahuang reducing by three ge, remove foam; add others, boil to nine ge, divide into three doses, highly effective. *Yingru* uses this for pediatric epilepsy with limb convulsions, finger trembling, stiff tongue.
**Fuling Gouteng Tang Formula**
Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis (Gouteng), Poria (Fuling, each two fen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, roasted), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, baked, each one fen).
Four ingredients, one sheng water, boil to three ge, divide into five doses, highly effective. *Yingru* uses this for epilepsy starting after seven days of birth.
**Yinchen Tang**
Artemisiae Scopariae Herba (Yinchen), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, each four fen), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), Natrii Sulfas (Xiaoshi, substitute Mangxiao if unavailable), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, roasted, two fen).
Six ingredients, three sheng water, boil to one sheng two ge, dissolve Xiaoshi completely, divide into three doses. *Yingru* uses this for prolonged epilepsy unresponsive to treatment, dry mouth, dark red/black face, heat in chest.
**Zachan Tang Formula**
Chachanis Cicada (Zechan, two, remove feet/feathers, roasted), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, each eight fen), Scutellariae Radix (Ziqin), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (Zhimu), Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi Ren, each six fen), Dragon Bone (Longgu), Ophichthidis Corium (Shetuopi, roasted, each half fen), Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang, remove joints), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, roasted, each two fen), Puerariae Radix (Shengge, five fen), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, ten fen), Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis (Goutengpi, one and a half fen).
Fourteen ingredients, three and a half sheng water, one sheng two ge bamboo juice, divide into four doses. *Yingru* uses this for high fever and great fright causing epilepsy in one-to-four-year-olds.
**Shenming Huanming Shiwei Niuhuang Tang Formula**
Bovine calculus (Niuhuang, size of three large beans), Halloysit Alba (Baishizhi), Dragon Bone (Longgu, each one and a half liang), Cinnamomi Cortex (Guixin), Natrii Sulfas (Hanshuishi), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, each two and a half liang), Ostrea Concha (Muli), Trichosanthis Radix (Gualou, each two liang), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao, crushed), Natrii Sulfas (Xiaoshi, each three liang).
