According to *Chao Shi Bing Yuan* (Source of Diseases by Master Chao) regarding the syndrome of yellow hair in infants: The Foot-Shaoyin meridian is the channel of the Kidney, and its Qi and Blood manifest their brilliance in the hair. If Qi and Blood are insufficient, they cannot moisten and nourish the hair, thus causing it to turn yellow.
*Qianjin Yi Fang* (Supplement to the Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) formula for treating yellow hair:
Mix equal parts of lard rendered in the twelfth lunar month, ash from sheep dung, and reed ash. Apply this mixture to the hair, changing it every three days, until the hair turns black.
Another formula from *Qianjin Yi Fang*:
Boil soybeans in vinegar until soft, remove the beans, and boil the remaining liquid until thick. Apply this paste to the hair.
Another formula from *Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold):
Apply bear fat to the hair and comb it. Scatter the fallen hair under the bed. Lie prone on the floor for the duration of one meal, then rise. The hair will eventually turn black. Use no more than one sheng (approx. 1 liter).
An Shi's transmitted highly effective formula for treating yellow hair in infants:
Take Psoraleae Fructus (Buguzhi, 补骨脂) in any quantity. Slowly stir-fry it in a silver or ceramic vessel until ready for pill formation.
Grind the above herb into a fine powder. Decoct Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata (Shu Dihuang, 熟地黄) juice into a paste, mix with the powder to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 15–20 pills per dose, washed down with salt water, before meals.
(Referring to sores appearing on the head at birth, containing insects)
*Chao Shi Bing Yuan* syndrome of "Chong Bao" (Insect Womb): When an infant is born, sores appear on the head, potentially spreading over the entire body. These sores contain insects, hence the name "Chong Bao."
Mr. Zhang Gutdi discusses "Chong Bao" in infants: *Chao Shi Bing Yuan* describes the symptoms but lacks corresponding formulas from later generations. Generally, infants are born with sores on the head that gradually spread and invade the body. Furthermore, these sores contain insects, seemingly originating from the womb, thus termed "Chong Bao." The treatment method involves administering drugs to expel pinworms (*Enterobius vermicularis*) and using washes or topical applications for head sores that contain insecticidal properties, which can be effective.
*Zimu Milu* (Secret Records of Mother and Child): For various sores on the head and body of infants containing insects, burn chicken eggshells, grind them into powder, and mix with lard for topical application.
*Qian Jin Fang* formula for treating infant head sores. (The following several formulas all possess insecticidal properties.)
Cerussa (Hu Fen, 胡粉) (1 liang) Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, 黄连) (2 liang)
Grind the above two ingredients into powder. Wash the sore to remove crusts, dry the area, and apply the powder. It will heal. If it recurs, apply again as before.
Another formula from *Qian Jin Fang*:
Cerussa (Hu Fen, 胡粉) Forsythiae Fructum (Lianqiao, 连翘) (each 1 liang) Mercurius (Shuiyin, 水银) (0.5 liang)
Decoct Forsythiae Fructum in water. Add Cerussa and Mercurius, mix, and form into pills for topical application.
Another formula from *Qian Jin Fang*:
Cerussa (Hu Fen, 胡粉) White Pine Resin (Bai Songzhi, 白松脂) (each 2 liang) Mercurius (Shuiyin, 水银) (1 liang) Lard (Zhizhi, 猪脂) (4 liang)
Decoct the four ingredients together, strain out the dregs, add Mercurius powder, mix well, and apply topically.
*Kushen* Decoction for Washing Infant Head Sores from *Qian Jin Fang*:
Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen, 苦参) Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, 黄芩) Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, 黄连) Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai, 黄柏) Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草) (roasted) Rheii Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, 大黄) Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Xiong, 川芎) (each 1 liang) Tribuli Fructus (Jili Zi, 蒺藜子) (3 he)
Chop the above eight ingredients. Decoct in 6 sheng of water to obtain 3 sheng. Soak a cloth in the decoction and apply to the sore several times a day.
An Shi's transmitted medicinal formula for treating infant "Chong Bao":
