(Applied after Asthma and Urgency)
*Chaoshi Bingyuan* (Source of Diseases in Chaos's Works) discusses the etiology of pediatric diseases: The Lung governs Qi. If Lung Qi is excessive, it manifests as wheezing, coughing, and rebellious Qi rushing upward. If additionally affected by Wind-Cold pathogens, Qi accumulates in the Lungs, causing Lung distension, characterized by chest fullness and shortness of breath.
Qian Yi discusses the condition of Excess Lung complicated by Wind-Cold: Symptoms include chest fullness, shortness of breath, rapid breathing with coughing, and rebellious Qi. Treatment should first clear and drain Lung heat, then disperse Wind-Cold. To drain the Lung, use Xiebai San (Prescription seen in this section) or Daqing Gao (Prescription seen in the Convulsion Section). If the Lung is solely affected by Cold Damage (Shanghan), chest fullness will not occur.
Qian Yi discusses the condition of Deficient and Timid Lung: Symptoms include white lips; treatment requires tonifying the Lung, using Ejiao San (Prescription seen in this section). If accompanied by restlessness, coarse breathing, rapid panting, and a choking sensation in the throat, it is difficult to treat due to Lung deficiency and damage. Chronic Spleen and Lung diseases lead to deficiency and white lips. The Spleen is the Mother of the Lung (Earth generates Metal). When both mother and child organs are deficient, they fail to nourish each other, hence the term "Timidity" (Qie). The Lung manifests on the lips; white lips with luster indicate a favorable prognosis, while white lips like withered bone indicate death.
*Yingtong Baojian* (Precious Mirror for Infants and Children) states: When infants and children are injured by external Wind affecting the Lung, it results in rapid breathing.
*Yingtong Baojian* states: When infants and children have retained phlegm-fluids forming clumps, after dispersing treatments, generalized edema appears along with urgent panting.
*Jingui Yaolue* (Essential Prescriptions from the Golden Cabinet) treats adults and children with Lung distension, coughing with rebellious Qi, irritability, panting, and a floating pulse, indicating water retention below the Heart. Use Xiao Qinglong Jia Shigao Tang (Minor Green Dragon Decoction plus Gypsum).
Ingredients: Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, stem nodes removed, 3 liang; *Qianjin Fang* uses 4 liang), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, each 3 liang; *Qianjin Fang* uses 2 liang each), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, each 3 liang), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, half sheng, washed), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus, half sheng; *Qianjin Fang* uses 1 sheng), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 2 sheng, crushed).
The above nine ingredients are coarsely chopped. Boil in 1 dou of water. First boil Mahuang until the volume reduces by 2 sheng, skim off the foam. Reduce dosage for frail patients. Take three times daily. Infants take 4 he. *Qianjin Fang* follows the same method. It cites Zhang Zhongjing using this formula for Lung distension, coughing with rebellious Qi, irritability, panting, floating pulse, and water retention below the Heart. *Waitai Miyao* agrees.

Effect is excellent. *Waitai Miyao* uses 1 sheng of water, boils to 7 he, strains, and divides doses. It notes that infants under 100 days suffering from Heat-induced urgency should not take this. However, if urine is dark yellow, taking this is very beneficial.
*Qianjin Fang* (Thousand Gold Formulas) treats sudden shoulder breathing and restless rebellious Qi in young children, caused by Evil Wind entering the Lung. Use Mahuang Tang (Ephedra Decoction).

Coarsely chop the above six ingredients. Boil in 5 sheng of water to obtain 2 sheng. Infants of 100 days take 1 he. Adjust dosage by age/size. Cure upon administration.

Ingredients: Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, 1 liang, roasted until extremely hot, pounded to powder), Dengxin (Junci Medulla, one handful).
Boil the above two ingredients in 2 sheng of water to obtain 8 he. Administer dose according to patient's condition.
