*Chao Shi Bing Yuan* on the condition of infantile dongxie (profuse diarrhea) and li (dysentery): Injury by wind in spring leads to dongxie in summer. Infants who remove clothing during spring may be injured by wind-cold, which hides within the muscles. By summer, due to irregular diet and living conditions, combined with renewed exposure to wind-cold entering the intestines and stomach, the pathogenic factors accumulate. When wind-pathogen takes advantage of this deficiency, diarrhea occurs. If cold qi is abundant, it manifests as dongxie; if dongxie does not cease, it develops into zhuxia (flux). Whenever zhuxia persists, it often transforms into jingxian (convulsions and epilepsy). This is because the condition originally involves wind-pathogen, and prolonged diarrhea weakens the zang-organs, allowing wind-pathogen to invade further. It may also transform into eye pain with opacity, cold masses in the lower jiao, or heat accumulation in the upper jiao, where heat steams the Liver.
*Wuguan Guanzhenzhunang* on infantile dongxie: Dongxie refers to diarrhea caused by wind-cold entering the intestines, characterized by profuse discharge, anal prolapse, and swelling in infants.
