*The Immortal's Water Mirror* records: For infants suffering from Ge Qi (a syndrome characterized by obstruction of qi in the chest and diaphragm, leading to difficulty swallowing or vomiting), it is appropriate to administer Taohua Sanzi Formula.
Ingredients: Taohua (Peach Blossom, 2 qian), Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome, 6 qian), Houpo (Magnolia Bark), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, each 1 fen), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Yanxiao (Natrii Sulfas, each 2 fen), Jiangdou (Jiang Dou Bean), Dangmenshen (Moschus/Musk, each 1 unit).
Preparation and Administration: Crush and grind the above ingredients into a powder. On an empty stomach, mix one qian with boiled water and take orally. After a short while, the patient will naturally be able to eat again. The nursing mother must avoid consuming alcohol, meat, and hot noodles.
*Bao Tong Fang* treats infant Ge Qi accompanied by sensation of choking and oppression, stabbing pain in both hypochondria, regurgitation of sour fluid, wandering masses of qi, pain, and irritability.
Ingredients: Binglang (Areca Seed), Mutong (Akebia Stem), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried), Baiye (Cupressus Leaf, boiled until yellow), Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above equal parts into powder. Take two large qian of the powder, add one cup of water, and decoct until six-tenths remains. Take a small amount of Nifen (Calomel/Calomelous Mercury), grind it evenly in a dry cup, mix with the decoction, and administer orally. If the condition involves Changjie Fanwei (Intestinal Obstruction with Regurgitation/Vomiting), use this formula after administering Wuyao Wan from the Deficiency-Cold section; reduce the dose for infants by half.
(Attached: Geng Qi)
*Bao Jian* records: Infant Qi Ni (Rebellious Qi) arises because the nursing mother experiences distress and depression, causing the qi of the milk to stagnate in her chest and strike the milk. When the infant drinks this, illness results. Symptoms include sallow-white complexion, reduced milk intake, night crying, and lackluster spirit without vitality. Do not induce vomiting at this stage, as doing so will exacerbate the condition.
Ingredients: Xie (Allium Macrostemon Bulb, 5 liang), Shumi (Millet Grain).
Preparation and Administration: Cut the five medicinal materials. Decoct them in seven sheng of water first, reducing to one sheng of liquid. Then add the Xie and millet grain, cooking until the rice is done and the medicine is ready. Administer in small, frequent doses.
*The Immortal's Water Mirror* records: For infants suffering from Geng Qi (obstruction in the throat), administer this formula as soon as the onset of illness is felt.
Ingredients: Shizhui (Hirudo/Leech), Dongqingye (Ilex Aquifolioides Leaf), Baizhangmuye (Cinnamomum Camphora Leaf).
Preparation and Administration: Take a small amount of each, crush to extract juice, and instill orally for recovery.
*Ju Bao Fang* Touguan Wan: Treats infant Geng Qi; a formula regulating the Heart Meridian.
Ingredients: Xuisui Zi (Euphorbia Lathyris Seed, half liang), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root, 3 qian, powdered), Changbinglang (Long Areca Nut, one piece), Mutong (Akebia Stem, half qian, powdered), Gansui (Kansui Root), Daji (Euphorbia Pekinensis Root, each one qian, powdered), Nifen (Calomel, one qian bi).
Preparation and Administration: Excluding the Nifen, pound the other powders together with the Xuisui Zi. Sieve through a horsehair sieve to remove the husk of Xuisui Zi. Mix the powder with urine from a young boy and virgin girl (called "Yin-Yang Wine"). Add the Nifen to form a hard paste. Sun-dry until slightly dry, then make pills the size of mung beans using water and honey. Take twenty pills per dose, administered with a decoction of Dengxincao (Juncus Effusus) and Zhuye (Bamboo Leaf). Effectiveness is indicated by a change in urine color within one shichen (two hours). Infants under five years old take seven pills; those under ten take ten pills. Adjust dosage as needed, following the same administration method.
*Wang Shi Shou Ji* Juhong Gao: Treats infant Qi disorders.
Ingredients: Hongjupi (Red Tangerine Peel, pith removed), Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, all in equal proportions).
