Pediatric gan accumulation (a syndrome in children characterized by malnutrition, emaciation, and sallow complexion due to long-term improper feeding or disease damaging the spleen and stomach), presents with yellowish, emaciated body, prominent bones, crusts on the scalp, and hair dry like wheat awns. Use three to five dried toads, remove the four limbs, coat them with sesame oil, roast until charred, and grind into powder; steam black dates, remove the pits, take the flesh, pound into a paste, mix the toad powder with the date paste, and form pills the size of a longan seed. Take three times daily; accumulated debris will naturally pass down. With continued use, the patient's appearance and constitution will transform, and the illness will vanish as if it never existed.
Another prescription: Purchase four taels of Tianjiang insect (Tianjiang Chong), wash thoroughly, dry, stir-fry lightly, and grind into powder. Add five qian of fine licorice root powder, bind with rice paste to form pills the size of a bullet. Take one pill per dose, swallowed with rice water.
For pediatric gan syndromes persisting for a long time, sores appear on the body and face, ulcerating into concave holes, resembling yaws (or syphilis) in adults. Collect the condensation dripping from the edges of the steamer lid when steaming glutinous rice, catch it in a bowl, and apply it to the sores. Effect is seen within a few days. When all other medicines fail, this prescription is miraculous.
For gan toxin eroding the mouth causing rot, use maggots from feces, washed extremely clean, dried, stir-fried lightly, and ground into powder. Mix with half the amount of ash from burnt brown cloth, grind uniformly, and frequently insufflate into the mouth for efficacy.
For pediatric oral gan (oral mucosal ulcers) with rotting and breakdown. Calcined human urine sediment (Ren Zhong Bai), equal parts of honey-roasted Phellodendri Cortex (Huang Bo) until charred, add a small amount of borneol, grind together into powder. After rinsing the mouth with strong tea, apply the medicine to the affected area.
For running-horse dental gan (a rapidly progressive, destructive necrotic stomatitis) and gingival rot with blackening and foul odor, use years-old accumulated scale from urinals, known as Ren Zhong Bai, calcined red-hot, one tael; catechu (Er Cha), five qian; Phellodendri Cortex (Huang Bo), Menthae Haplocalycis Herba (Bo He), and Indigo Naturalis (Qing Dai), each one qian; borneol, three fen. Grind into fine powder. First rinse mouth with warm water, then insufflate the medicine onto the gan lesions, six to seven times daily. During insufflation, if saliva flows outward, it is auspicious; if saliva retracts inward, the toxin has entered the interior, which is incurable.
For dental gan (gingival ulceration) and nasal gan (nasal ulceration), calcined Ren Zhong Bai, one qian five fen; ash from brown cloth (Mao He Hui) and calcined alum (Ku Bai Fan), each one qian. Grind into fine powder. For moist lesions, apply dry powder directly; for dry lesions, first moisten with sesame oil, then apply the medicine.
For acute gan (severe acute gan syndrome) eroding and rotting the mouth and nose, causing extreme suffering. Calcined purple clam shell (Zi Bei Zi) (commonly known as Nan She Ya Chi, also called Ya Luo, specifically referring to Gou Zhi Luo in Lingnan), calcined over charcoal fire into powder, mix with lard from the twelfth lunar month to apply topically.
For dental gan ulceration penetrating the lips and breaking the tongue, also treating oral aphthae. Rhizoma Picrorhizae (Hu Huang Lian), five fen; chalcanthite (Dan Fan) and catechu (Er Cha), each one qian five fen. Grind into powder and apply topically.
