The *Gualou Decoction* from the *Taiping Shenghui Fang* (Formulas of Benevolent Sages Compiled in the Taiping Era) is indicated for pediatric chronic cough that persists incessantly, accompanied by mental restlessness and oppression.
Ingredients: *Trichosanthis Fructus* (one ripe fruit, remove seeds, mix with one sheng of urine from an uncircumcised boy, grind and squeeze to extract juice); *Butyrum* (1 liang); *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (raw, 1 fen, powdered); *Mel* (2 liang).
Process these ingredients by slowly simmering them in a silver pot until the consistency resembles thin syrup. Administer half a qian per dose, mixed with clear rice broth, four to five times daily, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age and size.

*Buhui Mu San* (Non-ash Wood Powder) is indicated for pediatric cough that persists for a long time without cessation.
Ingredients: *Buhui Mu* (burned red-hot using cow dung); *Fritillariae Bulbus* (roasted until yellow); *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (processed with heat until slightly reddish. Each of the above, 0.5 liang).
Grind the aforementioned herbs and sieve coarsely to make a powder. Administer 1 qian per dose, mixed with a small cup of freshly drawn cold water and one or two drops of raw oil, stirred to disperse, then decocted until only 0.5 sheng remains. Strain the dregs and divide into two warm doses, administered four times daily, adjusting according to the child's age and size.

*Sangbaipi Jian* (Mulberry Root Bark Decoction) is indicated for pediatric cough that fails to resolve after a prolonged period, as well as hemoptysis due to lung injury.
Ingredients: *Mori Cortex* (from branches growing eastward, sliced, 5 he); *Ovis Pulmo* (white dog lung, one whole organ, sliced); *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*; *Poria*; *Cimicifugae Rhizoma*; *Fritillariae Bulbus* (each 12 fen); *Paeoniae Radix Alba*; *Pruni Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (stir-fried. Each 10 fen); *Li Gen Bai Pi* (sliced, 4 fen); *Asteris Flos*; *Ophiopogonis Tuber* (remove heart. Each 6 fen); *Scutellariae Radix* (11 fen); *Phyllostachys Viridis Cortex* (8 fen); *Mel*; *Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata Juice* (each 1 sheng).
Decoct the herbs in ten dou of water until reduced to three sheng. Strain the dregs, add *Pruni Semen Armeniacae Amarum Paste*, *Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata Juice*, and *Mel*. Simmer over low heat while stirring constantly until reduced to two sheng and three he. Filter through fine silk and squeeze to extract the juice. For children aged two or three years, administer one he per dose, taken warm, three times during the day and three he at night.

*Zhimu San* (Anemarrhenae Powder) is indicated for persistent cough in both adults and children, characterized by profuse sputum, vomiting, wheezing, chest oppression, and qi obstruction.
Ingredients: *Anemarrhenae Rhizoma*; *Fritillariae Bulbus*; *Bupleuri Radix*; *Astragali Radix* (processed with heat); *Asternis Radix et Rhizoma* (washed); *Aristolochiae Fructus*; *Pruni Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (ground, skin and tips removed); *Pinelliae Tuber* (boiled with *Alumen* until dry); *Mori Cortex* (processed with heat); *Alumen* (ground); *Asteris Flos* (equal parts).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Administer 1 qian per dose, decocted with seven-tenths of a cup of water until reduced to three-tenths. Strain and take frequently. Alternatively, use fresh ginger juice to make a paste and form pills; administer five to seven pills per dose, washed down with ginger soup.

*Beimu San* (Fritillaria Powder) is indicated for pediatric chronic cough accompanied by rapid breathing.
Ingredients: *Fritillariae Bulbus* (roasted); *Pruni Semen Armeniacae Amarum* (skin removed, stir-fried); *Ophiopogonis Tuber* (remove heart); *Asteris Flos* (each 1 fen); *Asternis Radix et Rhizoma* (0.5 liang).
Grind into powder. Mix half a qian with milk for administration.
