This refers to bone-steaming fever caused by infantile malnutrition heat (Gan Re), accompanied by various symptoms such as coughing and night sweats. Tang Shi Bie Jia San (Tang's Turtle Shell Powder) and Zhu Du Wan (Pig Stomach Pills) are both appropriate remedies for these conditions.
Gan Di Huang Jian (Dried Rehmannia Decoction) [from *Lu Xin Jing*]: Treats infantile malnutrition consumption (Gan Lao) in children, characterized by lung-heat cough, gradual emaciation of the four limbs, and dry heart pulse.
Raw Dried Rehmannia Juice (Sheng Di Huang Zhi, 5 liang) Butter (Su) Ginger Juice (Sheng Jiang Zhi) Honey (Mi, each 1 liang) Deer Antler Glue (Lu Jiao Jiao, 0.5 liang)
Take the above ingredients. First, place the Raw Dried Rehmannia Juice into a cauldron and simmer slowly over low heat, stirring continuously with your hand. After approximately five or six boils, add the butter. After another five or six boils, add the honey. Then add the glue, followed by the ginger juice. Simmer slowly until the mixture resembles thin syrup, then remove from heat. Administer half a spoonful twice after meals. Avoid all toxic foods.
[Mr. Wang] Chicken Decoction Pills (Ji Rou Jian Wan): Treats children over ten years old suffering from severe heat due to infantile malnutrition consumption (Gan Lao) and emaciation.
Xuan Lian (Coptis Chinensis Rhizome, remove stamens, 2 liang) Yin Chai Hu (Stellaria Root, remove rhizome, wash clean) Qin Jiao (Gentiana Macrophylla Root, remove soil and impurities) Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena Rhizome) Shi Jun Zi (Quisqualis Fruit, flesh only) Zi Qin (Scutellaria Baicalensis Root, each 1 liang) Wu Yi (Torreya Seed, remove skin) Chuan He Shi (Necator Asianus, 0.5 liang each)
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Take one yellow hen weighing about one jin, confine it in a cage, and feed it exclusively with hemp seeds for five days. Then slaughter it, remove feathers thoroughly, make an incision at the rear buttocks to remove intestines and viscera, wash clean, and dry. Stuff the powdered medicine into the chicken's cavity and sew it shut with thread. Place a small steamer basket, line the bottom with black beans three inches thick, place the chicken inside, surround it with black beans on all sides, and cover with more black beans on top. Steam from sunrise until evening. When cool, remove the chicken, discard the medicine residue, tendons, bones, head, and wings, retaining only the clean meat. Grind the meat evenly and mix with the powder. If too dry, add wine; otherwise, use flour paste to form pills the size of hemp seeds or small mung beans. Take 10, 15, or 20 pills per dose, adjusting according to circumstances. Take on an empty stomach or before bed, swallowed with prepared water of Ophiopogon Japonicus Radix (Mai Men Dong). For children with bone-heat due to Gan Lao, those over fifteen should take it with warm wine. Avoid pork.
[Zhang Shi] San He Yin Zi: Treats obstruction in the Triple Burner (San Jiao), stagnation in the five zang organs, rebellious qi with phlegm-saliva, aversion to saliva after eating rice, pain and dizziness in the Taiyang region, mountainous miasma (Shan Lan Zhang Qi), vomiting and poor appetite, sallow floating complexion, blue-black fingernails, infantile malnutrition consumption with vomiting of milk in children, and alternating chills and fever in adults and children who have recovered temporarily from prolonged illness but whose spirit has not yet restored. It serves as a rescue treatment for all these conditions.

Place the above three ingredients together in a wooden mortar and pound with a wooden pestle into a coarse powder. Take three qian per dose, with three slices of fresh ginger, two cups of water, and three jujubes. Decoct until reduced to 0.8 cup, strain, and drink. Take at any time.

Grind into powder. Take one qian per dose, with one cup of water, one branch of Qing Hao (Artemisia Annua Herba), and ten grains of Xiao Mai (Wheat). Decoct to 0.7 cup and take warm. If the condition is severe, add Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba) and Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus) in equal amounts to the previous powder, decoct and take for efficacy. (Used by Zhu Shi in Case 21.)

Soak the two types of Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome) in one cup of turtle blood and one liang of Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus) overnight. The next morning, stir-fry until dry, remove the Wu Zhu Yu and blood. Mix the two types of Huang Lian with the other powdered medicines. Form pills using millet flour paste, sized like hemp seeds. Take before meals with warm water.
