Wuxi Wan (Black Rhinoceros Horn Pill) is indicated for various stagnations complicated by fright or wind pathogens. It warms the stomach, regulates the spleen, promotes food intake, relieves vomiting and regurgitation of sour gas, and improves sallow complexion and emaciation. It is suitable for children regardless of their age since birth.
Ingredients: Wuxi (i.e., Gleditsiae Fructus Cortex [Saponin Pod], cut into three-cun long pieces of bark, roasted in ash fire until blue smoke rises, taken out, covered with a tile bowl on the ground to retain its nature, used when cool, 7 qian); Liuhuang (Sulfur); Baijiang (White Ginger, each 3.5 qian); Chenpi (Tangerine Peel, pith removed); Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Preparata, processed, skin and lateral roots removed, each 5 qian); Badou (Crotonis Fructus, 77 seeds, husk, membrane, and heart removed, oil retained).
Preparation and Administration: First, grind Sulfur alone into fine powder in a mortar. Except for Crotonis Fructus, roast the remaining four herbs and grind them into powder. Slice Crotonis Fructus thinly and pound finely in a porcelain mortar. Mix thoroughly with the previous five herb powders. Wrap the mixture in cooked Oryza Sativa var. glutinosa rice to form a large zongzi shape. Boil in a small clay bottle filled with water until cooked. After cooling, remove and pound thoroughly in a sand mortar. Strain through fine cloth, squeezing out a thick paste. Place in another vessel. Divide the herb powder equally and mix with the paste, pounding until soft. Form pills the size of millet shells. For treating various stagnations, take 15, 5, 21, or up to 33 pills per dose. Administer with a small cup of juice extracted from cold rice soaked in light ginger decoction, taken on an empty stomach at dawn (wugeng time). If bowel movements occur 3-5 times, stop with Yunqi San to harmonize qi and supplement deficiency. For accumulation-induced vomiting with sour odor, take 3-5 pills per dose. Add a little rice vinegar to light ginger decoction, warm it, and administer on an empty stomach.
Fuling Nongpu Tang (Poria and Magnolia Bark Decoction) is indicated for cold damage or wind strike complicated by phlegm causing vomiting and regurgitation, rattling of throat secretions after vomiting and diarrhea, reduced appetite, and deficiency of spleen and stomach qi.

Preparation and Administration: Chop the above ingredients. Take 2 qian per dose, add 1.5 cups of water and 3 slices of fresh ginger, decoct until 0.7 cup remains. Take at any time. Optionally, add one pitted Jujubae Fructus and decoct together.
