Yang Shi stated: Lung glandular disease (Fei Gan) is caused by irregular breastfeeding and diet, leading to accumulated heat that injures the Lungs. The Lungs govern Qi, and the nose is the external orifice of the Lungs. When Lung Qi is disharmonious, Wind-Dampness pathogens take advantage of the deficiency, lodging in the skin and hair, and entering the blood vessels. Consequently, redness, itching, sores, and dampness appear on both sides below the nose, named Nasal Glandular Disease (Bi Gan). These sores are painless; where the exudate flows, new sores immediately arise, also referred to as "Gan" (referring to ocular lesions caused by glandular disease). External manifestations include coughing and wheezing, high fever with aversion to cold, skin eruptions resembling millet grains, nasal sores with runny nose, throat obstruction, ulceration of the cheeks with vomiting of blood, abdominal distension with dry and brittle hair, and frequent diarrhea and dysentery. Qian Yi advocated tonifying the Spleen to generate Lung Metal, treating it primarily with Yihuang San (Benefit Yellow Powder). Yang Shi advocated using Qingfei Yin (Clear the Lungs Decoction), Huachong Wan (Eliminate Parasites Pill), and Qian Yi's Ejiao San (Donkey-Hide Gelatin Powder). Xue Ji advocated using Qingfei Yin to treat Lung heat, and Yiqi Tang (Benefit Qi Decoction) to generate Metal (via Earth). Zeng Shirong advocated using Bufei San (Tonify the Lungs Powder).
