Guizhi Lingzao Tang (Cinnamon Twig and Poria Decoction): Treats dampness invading the stomach and intestines, manifesting as vomiting and diarrhea.
Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Zhuling (Polyporus), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma [fried], equal parts each), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus [a small amount]).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Take two qian per dose, mixed with a decoction of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Dengxincao (Junci Medulla), and Chenpi, taken orally. If vomiting and diarrhea are caused by food stagnation, accompanied by scanty urination, abdominal distension, and pain, use this formula to separate and drain dampness. Additionally, use Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) to regulate and tonify the Spleen and Stomach.
Bansu San (Half-Millet Powder): Treats diseases such as vomiting and diarrhea due to deficiency-cold of the Spleen and Stomach in children, as well as cold-phlegm.
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma [soaked in water, sliced, dried], 1 liang), Chensumi (Setaria Italica [3 fen; aged Jingmi / Oryzae Sativa Japonica Group Semen is also acceptable]).
Cut the above ingredients into small pieces. Take three qian per dose, with 1.5 large cups of water and 10 slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma). Decoct together until reduced to 0.8 cup, and take warm before meals.
Baifu Wan (White Head Pill) [Indicated for: Phlegm-saliva]
Qian Yi stated: Vomiting and diarrhea with undigested milk indicate food injury; purgation is appropriate. The son of Feng Chengwu, aged five, suffered from vomiting, diarrhea, high fever, and loss of appetite. Qian Yi observed that his black pupil was small while the white sclera was prominent, and his complexion was pale. He said, "This child will surely suffer from frequent illnesses. A pale complexion indicates deficient Shen (Spirit); a small black pupil indicates Kidney deficiency. The black pupil corresponds to Water. Being inherently timid and deficient, he is prone to illness. Even if he grows up, his muscles will not be robust, he will not tolerate cold or heat, his condition will easily shift between deficiency and excess, and his Spleen and Stomach will also be weak. He must not indulge in alcohol; without proper care, he will not reach middle age. A face lacking spiritual luster resembles blood loss in women. Currently, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and high fever indicate food injury. Furthermore, those with deficiency-timidity should not be purged. Purging causes pathogenic factors to enter the Lung causing cough, the Heart causing palpitations/fright, the Spleen causing diarrhea, and the Kidney exacerbating deficiency. It is better to use Xiaoji Wan (Eliminate Accumulation Pill) to grind down the accumulation, as there is only slight food retention. If the injury is severe, purgation can be used; otherwise, it may form a mass (Pi). If solid food remains internally, purgation is also applicable. After purging, tonifying the Spleen will lead to recovery. Following the principles of deficiency and excess, all cases will be effective. [Zeng] Qian Yi said: Vomiting milk with yellow stool indicates injury from hot milk; vomiting milk with green stool indicates injury from cold milk. Both require purgation, which is the method of 'attacking and seizing' (Yingduo). It is better to use Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) for hot injuries to guide rebellious Qi downward, and Lizhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction) for cold injuries to warm the interior, leading to natural recovery. If Spleen meridian stagnation is not cleared and the body is injured again by diet, resulting in vomiting or diarrhea, use Sanleng San (Curcuma Longa Powder) to resolve accumulation and Shouwei San (Stomach-Guarding Powder) to harmonize the Stomach.
[Zhu Danxi] Children's vomiting, diarrhea, and jaundice.
Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma), Pengzhu (Curcumae Rhizoma), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata), Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria).
Grind the above into fine powder. Take with a decoction of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) and Dengxincao (Junci Medulla). Add Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus) for vomiting/diarrhea due to milk/food injury. add Huashi (Talcum) for epidemic vomiting/diarrhea. Add Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba) for fever.
Xiaoji Wan (Eliminate Accumulation Pill): Treats children's vomiting and diarrhea with sour, foul-smelling stools.
