What is the cause of a white membrane obscuring the vision? The answer is: Lung Metal (Metal element associated with the Lungs) overacts on Liver Wood (Wood element associated with the Liver), and Wind Pathogen (a pathogenic factor characterized by movement and change) resides in the Lungs. When Metal is excessive and Wood is deficient, a white membrane obscures the vision. It is appropriate to apply Zhenzhu Gao (Pearl Ointment) or Tuiyun San (Cloud-Pushing Powder) topically, and administer Lianqiao Yin (Forsythia Decoction) and Sishun Qingliang San (Four-Directional Cooling and Clearing Powder).

What is the cause of itching when exposed to wind? The answer is: Wind Pathogen resides in the Liver Meridian. The Liver belongs to Wood; upon encountering Wind, it becomes agitated and causes itching. It is appropriate to apply Huye Gao (Tiger Saliva Ointment) topically and administer Jingjie San (Schizonepeta Powder).
Jingjie San (Schizonepeta Powder)
Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Manjingzi (Viticis Semen), Ganju (Chrysanthemi Flos), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, stir-fried), Caojueming (Cassiae Semen, stir-fried), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (all in equal proportions).

What is the cause of blurred vision in the morning? The answer is: This is due to Toufeng (Head Wind) invading the eyes. The head is the summit of all Yang meridians. Blurred vision in the morning indicates deficiency of Yang Qi. Yang Qi is associated with Wood. During the Yin, Mao, and Chen hours, Wood energy is prosperous; thus, when pathogens prevail, Wind is generated and attacks the eyes.
