Heatstroke causing loss of consciousness: Immediately take slightly warm ashes from the stove and cover the patient with them. Then, dip a hand towel in lukewarm water and apply moxibustion-like heat (ironing) to the abdomen and hypochondriac region. After a while, the patient will regain consciousness. Do not give cold substances to eat or drink immediately. (*Ji Jiu Fang*)
Heatstroke causing dizziness, vertigo, restlessness, and impending death: Take dry mud from fields and pile it into a circle on the patient's abdomen. Have a robust person urinate into the center of the mud circle at the navel. The patient will recover life within a short time. After regaining consciousness, absolutely do not drink cold water or lie on damp ground; exposure to cold will result in death. (*Zhong Fu Tang Fang*)
Heatstroke causing obstruction of both urination and defecation: Mash three *Ciprae Shell* (Tianluo) and mix with 3 fen of *Green Salt* (Qingyan). Apply as a paste to the point 1 cun below the umbilicus. Urination and defecation will then become unobstructed. (Ibid.)
Cramping Intestinal Sha (Jiao Chang Sha): This condition is caused by summer-heat stagnating in the Middle Jiao, resulting in abdominal pain radiating to the heart, with attacking and cramping sensations up and down, inability to vomit or have diarrhea, or coldness in both hands and feet. It involves intestinal spasms and contraction, which can be fatal in an instant. Immediately prepare a mixture of raw and cooked water with 3 qian of *Alum* (Bai Fan). After a short while, induce vomiting to expel the summer-heat toxin, and the condition will stabilize. Alternatively, prick the *Weizhong* (BL40) acupoint and the nail beds of fingers and toes to allow bleeding. If red spots appear on the chest, back, and limbs, cauterize the areas using a lamp wick dipped in vegetable oil. (*Zheng Zhi Hui Bu*)
Sudden collapse and loss of consciousness due to heatstroke during travel (or slight recovery but inability to move): Immediately assist the patient to a cool, dry place. Soak cloth towels or garments in hot water and cover the area below the umbilicus and above the *Dantian*. Continuously pour hot water over the cloths to ensure heat penetrates the umbilical and abdominal regions. As long as warmth is maintained, the patient will gradually regain consciousness. If hot water is unavailable in an emergency, scoop up hot earth from the road and place it around the umbilicus; use as much as possible, replacing it frequently when it cools. Alternatively, if no hot water is available on the road, scoop hot earth onto the umbilicus, create a hole in the center, and have people urinate into it to substitute for hot water, which can also be effective. (*Duo Neng Bi Shi*)
Sudden loss of consciousness due to heatstroke: Moxibustion is suitable for *Baihui* (GV20), *Zhongwan* (CV12), *Zusanli* (ST36), *Pishu* (BL20), *Hegu* (LI4), *Renzhong* (GV26), and *Yingu* (KI10). Use *Sanyinjiao* (SP6) according to circumstances. Acupuncture may also be used. (*Ci Jiu Yao Jue*)
Summer-heat inducing Huoluan with vomiting and diarrhea: Selectively apply acupuncture or moxibustion to points such as *Bailao*, *Weizhong* (BL40), *Hegu* (LI4), *Quchi* (LI11), *Zusanli* (ST36), and *Shixuan* (EX-UE11). (Ibid.)
Stiff collapse and unconsciousness due to excessive heat: Do not move the patient to a cold location; exposure to cold qi will cause death. Place the patient near a warm area. Take clean, hot earth from the road, form a circle around the umbilicus, and have someone urinate into it. Alternatively, use roof tiles heated by the sun to apply heat (ironing) to the patient's chest, abdomen, and below the umbilicus. When the Qi flows freely, the patient will awaken.
