Apply earthworm feces ground into fine powder, mixed with egg white, and applied to the affected area for immediate cure.
Take 70 tadpoles, Myrrha (Myrrha), Olibanum (Boswelliae Resina) (each ground, 2 qian), Toad venom (Chan Su, 蟾酥) (ground, 2 fen), Moschus (Musk, 麝香) (7 li), and Natrii Sulfas (Glauber's Salt, 芒硝) (7 qian, purified). Grind all ingredients together, place them in a small porcelain bottle, seal with yellow beeswax, bury in a soil pit for seven days and nights until the medicine turns into clear liquid. Store the bottle together. When needed, dip a brush in the solution and apply to the lesion; it will disappear immediately.
Burn deer horn to ash while preserving its medicinal properties, grind into powder, mix and apply to the affected area to expel toxins. For chronic cases, improvement occurs within one night.
Take a piece of ivory, preferably with white streaks. Place human milk in a mortar, grind the ivory until the mixture resembles rice washing water. Add a small amount of Coptidis Rhizoma (Coptidis Rhizome, 黄连) powder and Borneol (Bing Pian, 冰片), grind finely together, and apply this juice to the corner of the eye.
Another method: Make small pills from comb scale (residue on wooden combs) and place them at the corner of the eye to expel toxins.
Collect half a cup of condensation water from a pot lid and administer orally to restore consciousness. Another method: Administer pure mung bean flour with cold water.
For body pain with blue marks, rub the painful area with loose hair. If the hair curls into a ball, it is the correct diagnosis; if not, it is incorrect. Decoct gold or silver vessels and drink the soup.
Take raw Sesame Seeds (Sesami Semen, 芝麻) (half sheng). When pain occurs, take an arbitrary amount without measuring. Stir-fry in a copper pot until black, grind into powder, and take with good wine. One dose can eradicate the root cause.
Another method: Dry mulberry worm feces, take 1-2 qian each time with wine. For severe cases, two doses stop it immediately.
(Treating infantile smallpox/rash that fails to erupt, leading to blackening of the nose, indicating imminent death)
Take a handful of raw Sesame Seeds (Sesami Semen, 芝麻) and a bunch of Scallion Stem (Cong Bai, 葱白). First, crush the sesame seeds into a paste, then crush together with the scallions. Have the child sit inside a bed canopy in a non-ventilated area. Place the two ingredients in a copper basin, pour boiling water over them, and use the herbal steam for fumigation. Even in critical conditions, the rash will erupt immediately, ensuring safety. This formula has proven effective repeatedly, saving many lives.
Decoct and drink Golden Thread Grass (Jin Xian Cao, 金线草) for a cure.
Make a hole in one duck egg. Insert 5 fen of Realgar Powder (Xiong Huang, 雄黄) inside and mix well. Soak the affected finger in the egg yolk/white mixture without moving it for a cure.
Spring: The three months of spring are when all things grow. One must move about to harmonize the four limbs and should not sit idle in depression.
In spring, as weather warms suddenly, do not abruptly reduce cotton clothing; reduce layers gradually to avoid sudden cold exposure.
Summer: Summer is a season where the body expends spirit. Heart fire is strong while Kidney qi declines, and fluids easily transform into dampness-water. Regardless of age, one should eat warm foods and practice celibacy for nourishment.
In summer, wearing thin clothes, do not sit on cold stones. Cold qi invading the external kidneys often causes hernia and testicular swelling. In women, cold qi entering the Blood Chamber leads to irregular menstruation or dysmenorrhea.
With thin summer clothes, wear a cotton belly band day and night. At night, fear of kicking off covers makes the belly band essential to prevent abdominal pain and dysentery.
Clothes heated by sun exposure should not be worn immediately; mild cases cause sweat spots, severe cases cause acute illness. Do not sit on stools, bricks, or stones, as heat toxicity may invade the skin, causing seat sores or carbuncles.
During summer latent heat, do not drink cold water or food, as forcing internal heat out easily harms the body.
In extreme summer heat, do not bathe face, back, or body with cold water, which can cause deficiency heat eye diseases, tendon/muscle reversal, cholera, and jaundice.
Do not wear sweat-soaked clothes for long periods to avoid sores; wash and change frequently.
After exertion or eating/drinking, if sweating, allow sweat to vent thoroughly. Do not rush to remove clothes, wipe sweat with wet cloth, or fan oneself, as wind entering pores easily causes disease.
When walking in summer with hot sweat, do not face wind, fan urgently, remove hats/clothes immediately, or drink cold tea, lest blood/qi become abnormal and cause illness.
When outdoors in summer, avoid drinking from sun-exposed springs or streams due to potential toxicity. Avoid damp places in empty guesthouses or unoccupied areas. After walking in rain, smoke clothes and bedding with Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cang Zhu, 苍术) to dispel moldy odors and drive away epidemic pathogens and mountain miasma.
In summer, days are long and nights short; daytime fatigue necessitates napping. However, do not sleep immediately after lunch to avoid food stagnation and disease. Sleep before meals; wake up, rest briefly, then eat. If sleepy after lunch, get up and walk or engage in leisure activities to avoid drowsiness. Do not sleep immediately after drinking tea when extremely thirsty.
Do not lie on damp bamboo mats or cold ground in summer for coolness; dampness penetrating meridians causes upper symptoms like sallow complexion and puffy eyes, lower symptoms like thigh/knee swelling and coldness, internal symptoms like fullness and diarrhea, or surface symptoms like heavy head and body ache. Stagnant yang leads to qi/blood obstruction; stagnant yin transforms into fluid retention, causing tendon numbness/pain or leg weakness.
Do not sleep outdoors or in direct wind; wind hitting the head causes pain, back causes cough, arms cause ache. Be cautious every month, not just in summer.
Summer mosquito nets should be made of thin gauze or linen to allow body heat to escape, which is excellent. Winter nets can be dense.
From Summer Solstice to Autumn Equinox, avoid rich, greasy pastries and fried dough, as they conflict with alcohol and fruits, causing many illnesses.
Autumn: Early autumn retains residual summer heat; care should follow summer guidelines.
The three months of autumn see weather cooling and hair drying; add cotton clothes gradually. Keep the back warm, as cold injures the Lungs.
In autumn months, when traveling by boat or staying in inns with thin clothes against sudden cold, wrap socks around the abdomen. Other body parts tolerate cold better, but a cold abdomen causes disease.
In summer/autumn, sudden storms, thunder, or fog are considered passages of malevolent spirits. Whether at home or out, enter rooms, close doors, burn incense silently, and only go out afterward to avoid misfortune.
Winter: The three winter months are when Water stores and closes, and blood/qi becomes sluggish. It is crucial to secure primordial Yang to nourish true Qi.
Winter requires warm, clean, sealed rooms; light, soft bedding; and a warm abdomen. Sleep early, rise late to avoid frost. Drink moderate amounts of fine wine in the morning, wait a bit, then eat porridge. Strictly avoid roasted, fried, and dry/hot foods.
In severe winter cold, if feet become numb from riding or walking in snow/rain, warm them gently with low fire and massage to restore circulation before washing with hot water. Washing immediately with boiling water on numb feet can cause burns, freeze-blood stagnation, damage tendons/collaterals, and lead to lifelong disability.
Upon returning from cold exposure, do not drink hot soup immediately; wait a moment to avoid harm.
In winter cold, internal Yang may郁 (stagnate) and generate heat. Adding heavy furs, proximity to fire, or drunkenness causes excessive Yang, risking epidemic fevers in spring/summer. Elderly people have loose bones/flesh and are susceptible to cold/wind. Tight-fitting clothes keep warmth close, promoting smooth blood/qi flow and harmonious limbs.
For elderly people fearing cold in winter, use a tin hot water bottle shaped like a pillow (rectangular bottom, round top, central opening with lid). Fill with hot water, wrap tightly in cloth to prevent moisture. Use under covers before sleep for warmth, foot warming, distance from fire, and absence of fire toxicity. This is an excellent method for caring for the elderly. Above (from "Duo Neng Ji")
