Pain from gunpowder burns: Use shells of freshwater mussels (specifically those taken from salt jars), grind them into powder, mash them, and apply together with tea leaves to the affected area. The condition will be cured immediately. (From *Tong Shou*)
Blindness caused by firecracker explosions hitting the eyes: Have someone pour hot urine that promotes heat-clearification and diuresis over the injury; the pain will subside immediately. Alternatively, use one's own urine to wash the area frequently, and vision will naturally recover. (From *Du Shi Ji De Fang*)
Preparation for torture with leg clamps: Take soap nuts (*Sapindus* fruits), soak them thoroughly in water, remove the outer black skin, and mash the inner white flesh and kernels into a paste. If torture is scheduled for the next day, apply this paste tonight. Cover from the upper ankle joint down to the sole of the foot and inside the fingernails/toenails, ensuring even application without any gaps. Wrap the outside with oil paper and bind tightly with cloth strips used for foot-binding. At this stage, the medicine integrates with the skin and flesh, maintaining its color. During the torture, it causes no hindrance or interference. Afterward, wash with warm yellow soy milk. This soy milk must be prepared by soaking beans until soft one day in advance, grinding them into slurry, and setting aside. Truly miraculous, truly miraculous. (From *Qi Fang Lei Bian*)
First aid for initial leg clamp injuries: Take four taels of lard and pepper (one grain per year of age of the victim), mash them into a paste, apply to the injured area, and bandage securely. Do not wash or untie the bandage; recovery occurs within one night. (From *Ji Xiao Fang*)
Injuries from leg clamps: Immediately upon leaving the yamen, immerse the feet in a basin of hot child's urine. If the urine cools, heat two red-hot bricks, crush them into the urine to reheat it, and continue immersion until a white oily layer floats on the surface of the urine, indicating that the internal toxins and blood stasis have been expelled. Then, mash soap nuts into a paste, mix evenly with egg white, apply to the wound, wrap the foot with straw paper, tie tightly, and remain immobile overnight for effectiveness. (From *Ji Sheng Mi Lan*)
Medication for clamp injuries: If bones are intact, apply *Achyranthes bidentata* root (*Tu Niu Xi*). If bones are fractured, mash *Eupolyphaga sinensis* (*Tu Bie Chong*) together with live crabs and apply externally. (From *Yan Qing Tang Fang*)
Injuries from finger clamps (*Za Shang*): Take two taels of alum (*Zao Fan*) and four to five bowls of water, boil in a clay pot. Steam and wash the hands in the boiling solution. Soak for an extended period to invigorate blood circulation, relieve pain, and prevent ulceration. The water used for washing becomes foul-smelling overnight. (From *Bian Yi Liang Fang*)
Another method: For fingers left with depressions after clamping, mix cinnabar (*Yin Zhu*) with wine to make a thick paste, apply along the contour of the depression, and the indentation will naturally fill in. (From *Zhong Fu Tang Fang*)
Unbearable pain from beating and clamping: Mash one live crucian carp (weighing approximately three to four taels), one cup of aged rice lees (*Chen Jiu Zao*), five qian of copper powder, and four taels of walnut meat (*Hu Tao Rou*) together. Apply to the injured area. (Same source)
Injuries from bamboo cane strikes: Place two to three dou of mulberry fruits (*Sang Zi*) in a jar, seal with hemp cloth, and store in a shaded place to ferment until foul. After the first frost, extract the juice by filtering and pressing, remove the dregs, and store the clear liquid in small jars. Apply to injuries upon occurrence for immediate pain relief; full recovery typically occurs after two applications. (From *Yi Liang Li Shi Kan Fang*)
Broken skin from cane strikes: Mash fresh *Hemerocallis citrina* flowers (*Yu Zan Hua*) by hand until cooked/soft, and apply to the lesion. Alternatively, fresh lotus leaves can be applied. (From *Shi Xiao Fang*)
Swelling and pain from broken skin due to cane strikes: Mash *Impatiens balsamina* leaves and stems (*Feng Xian Hua Ye*) into a paste, apply to the swollen and broken area. Reapply when dry. Blood stasis disperses and healing occurs overnight. In winter, collect dried material, grind into powder, and apply mixed with water. (From *Tong Bian Yao Fa*)
Swelling and pain from cane sores: Mix equal parts of *Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati* (*Da Huang*), *Talcum* (*Hua Shi*), and *Lapis Kaolinites* (*Chi Shi Zhi*) into powder. Clean the wound with tea water before applying. (From *Zhao Shi Jing Yan Fang*)
Pain from cane sores: Stir-fry mung bean flour (*Lu Dou Fen*), grind it, and mix with egg white for application. This yields excellent results. (From *Sheng Sheng Bian*)
Bruising and swelling from cane sores: Lay wet cotton paper over the swollen area. Pound heated, burnt rice lees (*Jiu Zao*) and spread thickly over the paper. After a while, the painful area feels like ants crawling, and as heat rises, the swelling dissipates. (From *Yang Shi Jian Bian Fang*)
Another method: Apply slices of tofu, changing frequently. Another method: Boil with strong liquor and apply; change when the color turns red, stop when it does not. (From *Ji Sheng Ba Cui Fang*)
Deep, non-healing ulcers from old cane wounds: Mix one qian each of *Dragon's Blood Resin* (*Xue Jie*) and *White Beeswax* (*Bai Zhan*), and two qian each of *Cinnabar* (*Zhu Sha*) and *Calomel* (*Qing Fen*). Grind into fine powder and sprinkle on the wound for one day and night. New tissue grows around the edges, and the wound flattens within two days. (From *Gong Men Mi Fang*)
Pill Reviving Life (*Qi Si Hui Sheng Dan*): For severe injuries from clamps, finger presses, or cane strikes where blood stasis is congested, causing excruciating pain, necrosis, and imminent death, use one fen of *Musk* (*She Xiang*), three fen of *Borneolum Syntheticum* (*Bing Pian*), one qian five fen each of *Resina Frankincense* (*Ru Xiang*) and *Resina Myrrhae* (*Mo Yao*), two qian of *Camphora* (*Zhang Nao*), and three qian each of *Calomel* (*Qing Fen*) and *Dragon's Blood Resin* (*Xue Jie*). Grind all ingredients into an extremely fine powder. Melt one tael of *Yellow Beeswax* (*Huang La*) and one tael two qian of *Porcine Adipose Tissue* (*Zhu Ban You*), then mix with the powder to form a plaster. Apply to the affected area. As foul fluid discharges day and night, the patient regains consciousness immediately. (Same source)
