[First Aid Good Prescriptions · Chapter 6: Insect and Snake Bites]
**Rescuing Tiger Bites:** Take ginger juice orally, and wash the wound. Apply white alum powder to the sore.
**Rescuing Venomous Snake Bites and Various Toxic Insect Poisons Entering the Abdomen:** Take tender leaves of *Xanthium strumarium* (Cocklebur), crush them to extract juice, administer orally, and apply the residue thickly to the wound site. For dog bites: Decoct the juice for oral administration.
**Treating Bites from Vicious Snakes, Dogs, Centipedes, and Scorpions:** Use *Asarum* (Xi Xin) and *Angelica dahurica* (Bai Zhi), each 2 qian; realgar (Xiong Huang), 1 qian; and musk (She Xiang), a small amount. Grind the above into fine powder, mix with good wine, and take 1 qian orally.
Another method: Grind *Fritillaria* (Bei Mu) into powder, mix with wine, and let the patient drink as much as possible. After a short while, the liquid will flow out from the wound like water. Once the fluid is exhausted, apply the medicinal residue to the sore, which will lead to recovery.
Another method: Moxibustion on the wound site for three to five moxa cones (Zhuang) to draw out the poison, leading to recovery.
Another method: Light a lamp wick with clear oil smoke, and fumigate the wound with the smoke; pain will be relieved immediately.
Another method: Apply chicken manure to the affected area.
Another method: Grind leaves, *Houttuynia cordata* (Yu Xing Cao), *Oxalis corniculata* (Zhou Mian Cao), and *Cassia obtusifolia* (Cao Jue Ming) together into fine powder and apply to the affected area; this is also effective.
**Treating Snake Bites:** Place white alum on a knife blade and melt it by heating; drip the hot liquid onto the bite site. It can also be taken orally as an alum decoction.
Another method: Use *Aucklandia lappa* (Qing Mu Xiang) in any quantity, decoct and take orally; pain will stop immediately.
Another method: Use equal parts of realgar (Xiong Huang), *Trogopterus dung* (Wu Ling Zhi), *Fritillaria* (Bei Mu), and *Angelica dahurica* (Xiang Bai Zhi). Grind into powder, take 2 qian per dose, mixed with hot wine.
Another method: Wash the wound with boiling water infused with white alum.
**Treating Snake Bites with Poison Entering the Abdomen:** Take two knives, grind them against each other in water, and drink the resulting juice.
Another method: Crush *Polygonum aviculare* (Hui Liao) to extract juice for drinking, and apply the residue to the wound. Tie the ends of the wound tightly with hair.
Another method: Use *Angelica dahurica* (Xiang Bai Zhi) ground into powder and *Ophiopogon japonicus* (Mai Men Dong) (heart removed); decoct strongly and take with the liquid. Within moments, yellow fluid will exude from the bite site. Once exhausted, swelling subsides, and skin heals. Continue applying the medicinal residue to the wound.
Another method: Crush duckweed (Shui Ping) to extract juice for oral administration.
Another method: Quickly, in a windless place, bind hemp fibers above and below the bite site. For severe cases, excise the injured flesh with a knife, wash thoroughly with urine, cauterize with a heated iron object. Then fill the wound with earthworm mud, followed by aged calcined gypsum powder (Duan Shi Mo), and tie securely with silk cloth. For mild cases, prick the wound and surrounding areas with a needle to bleed, wash with urine, place garlic slices on the bite site, and perform moxibustion for three to five cones.
**Treating Mad Dog Bites:** Quickly, in a windless place, suck out blood from the wound or prick dry wounds with needles to release blood, and wash thoroughly with urine. Take half a walnut shell, fill it with human feces, and cover the wound. Perform moxibustion for one hundred cones. Do the same the next day, continuing for one hundred days to neutralize the toxicity. For urgent relief, use one dried toad (Ha Ma) and twenty blister beetles (Ban Mao), removing heads, wings, and legs. Stir-fry with glutinous rice until yellow. Grind only the blister beetles and toad into powder, mix with wine or water, and divide into four doses. Stop when foul matter is discharged in urine. If no foul matter appears, adjust dosage based on severity. Drink one cup of Chinese chive juice. For topical application, mix tiger bone powder with calcined gypsum, rendered pork fat, and apply. Avoid alcohol, chicken, fish, pork, and greasy foods. Lifelong avoidance of dog meat and silkworm pupae is required. During spring-summer transitions, dogs are prone to rabies. For bitten individuals, moxibustion is the best method; perform it every seven days. If no symptoms appear after twenty-one days (three sevens), full immunity is achieved. If pain stops and wounds heal, assuming cure without further treatment leads to death. Rabid dogs have tails hanging straight down without curling, drool excessively, and have black tongues.
Another method: Remove toxic blood, wash with fermented grain water (Jiang Shui), stir-fry lead oxide (Huang Dan) on paper until red, and apply to the wound; this is excellent.
Another method: Chew perilla leaves (Zi Su Ye) finely and apply to the affected area; pain ceases immediately.
Another method: Treating bites and chronic recurrences: Use five qian of high-quality realgar (Xiong Huang) and five fen of musk (She Xiang). Grind uniformly, mix with wine, and take two qian. Falling asleep after ingestion is desirable. Upon waking naturally, if foul matter is discharged, administer another dose for visible effect.
Another method: Use equal parts of raw *Aconitum carmichaelii* (Sheng Nan Xing) and *Saposhnikovia divaricata* (Fang Feng). Grind into powder. First, rinse the wound with fermented grain water held in the mouth, wipe dry with cotton, and sprinkle the powder on the wound. This prevents recurrence, avoids pus formation, and promotes healing.
Another note states that although this disease seems minor, it is often fatal. Urgently use seven blister beetles (Ban Mao), remove wings and legs, grind into powder, and take mixed with wine. Seeing foam resembling a dog shape in the urine indicates no recurrence. This prescription has been tested repeatedly with success.
Another method: Take forty-nine green onion whites (Cong Bai Xin), crush into paste, mix with raw honey. Store in a wet bamboo tube, sealed with paper for seven days. Apply to the wound for seven days, then cover with onion skin. If the wound is large, replace the paste, totaling fourteen days. Strictly avoid all meat and strong-smelling foods. After one hundred days, take one qian of Xiao Feng San (Wind-Dispersing Powder) with seven slices of cooked castrated bovine meat, seven stalks of green onion, and a small spoonful of honey. Boil the pork broth to cook the onions, and have the patient eat hot. For children, use seven small pieces of meat, one qian of Xiao Feng San, and half a spoonful of honey, boiled and taken.
Another method: Take infant hair, stir-fry new *Cyperi Rhizoma* (Xiang Fu) and wild chrysanthemum, grind finely, and take mixed with wine until intoxicated.

Also drink juice extracted from Chinese chive and fresh ginger.
Another method: First wash with green onion soup, then apply crushed almonds to the wound.
Another method: Take fifty castor seeds (Bi Ma Zi), remove shells, grind with well water into paste. First wash the bite with salt water, then apply.

Another method: Apply tiger bone powder; recovery is immediate.
**Treating Horse Bites and Trampling Injuries:** Perform moxibustion on the wound and swollen areas. Also effective to burn women's menstrual blood, human feces, horse dung, or mouse dung into powder, mix with pork fat, and apply.
Another method: If a pre-existing wound is exposed to horse sweat or hair while riding, or steamed by horse breath, causing swelling and pain. Frequently soak in cold water. For hard-to-soak areas, apply wet cloths frequently.
Another method: Cut three to five drops of rooster comb blood into the wound. Use hen blood for large horses, rooster blood for small horses.
**Treating Pig Bites:** Apply mud from roof gutters (Cheng Liu).
**Treating Cat Bites:** Apply mint juice.
**Treating Rat Bites:** Burn cat hair to ash, add a little musk, mix with saliva, and apply.

**Treating Centipede Bites:** Rub with hemp shoe soles.
Another method: Apply earthworm mud, or prick rooster comb blood for application, or apply mulberry sap.
Another method: Chew *Cyperi Rhizoma* (Xiang Fu Zi) and rub on the affected area; immediate effect.
**Treating Bee/Wasp Stings:** Rub with wild ramie leaves. If inconvenient, quickly apply head dirt with hands, or rub with salt, wash with urine, or apply mulberry sap.
Another method: Heat an oil wooden comb over fire and press熨 (iron/press) the area.
Another method: Resolving Nine-Mile Wasp Poison: Drill holes in soap pod (Zao Jia), attach to the sting site, and perform moxibustion for three to five cones through the holes; peace ensues.
**Treating Scorpion Stings:** Use equal parts of white alum (Bai Fan) and pinellia (Ban Xia), grind into powder, mix with good vinegar, and apply; pain stops, poison exits.
Another method: Prick the sting site with a needle to bleed, soak in cold water. Replace water when slightly warm. For difficult-to-soak areas, use old cloth soaked in cold water, changing frequently.
Another method: Treating scorpion stings: Male scorpion stings cause localized pain; apply bottom-well mud. Female scorpion stings cause radiating pain; apply mud from under eaves. Or use white alum powder mixed with water; first remove the black spine, then apply.
**Treating Spider Bites Causing Whole-Body Sores:** Take one scallion leaf, make a hole at the small end, insert an earthworm, seal both ends to prevent air leakage, shake until liquefied, and drop onto the wound.
Another method: Chew leek white and apply, or use realgar. For whole-body swelling, take indigo juice.
Another method: Spider bites causing whole-body silk-like eruptions: Drink sheep milk alone; very effective. Or apply salt and oil, rubbing frequently.
**Treating Earthworm Bites:** Sitting or lying on the ground may result in unnoticed bites to the kidneys/genitals, causing阴肿 (scrotal/genital swelling). Wash several times with warm salt water; highly effective.
**Treating Lice Removal:** Dry *Lemna* (Wu Gong Ping), burn to smoke and fumigate to remove. Sprinkle green salt water on beds and mats to eradicate.
**Treating Eight-Legged Insect Bites:** These insects hide in walls, spray urine on people, causing whole-body sores resembling burns. Burn black chicken feathers to ash, mix with egg white, and apply.
Another method: Decoct raw licorice root (Sheng Gan Cao) to wash, or chew pear leaves to apply, or crush leek juice to apply, or apply hemp seeds.
**Treating Tian Tou Snake Poison:** Use *Solanum melongena* (Luo Su/Jin Si Cao), *Lonicera japonica* vine (Jin Yin Hua Teng), *Pueraria lobata* variant (Wu Ye Zi Ge), and *Fagopyrum tataricum* (Tian Qiao Mai). Chop finely, decoct strongly in high-quality vinegar, fumigate first, then wash.
