Newborns with no skin over the entire body, showing only red flesh, should be immediately dusted with dry early rice flour. Stop when the skin has fully regenerated. Alternatively, apply fine powder of old earth from an east-facing wall; this can also promote skin growth.
Newborns whose bodies resemble fish bladders or are crystal-clear, leaking fluid upon rupture but regenerating, should be treated by applying fine powder of *Lithargyri Pulvis* (Mituoseng, 密陀僧). Additionally, dissolve one pill of *Suhe Wan* (Ambroxol Pill/Suhe Pill) and administer it daily to the nursing mother for self-healing. Primiparous women should not take Suhe Wan lightly.
Neonatal retraction of the testes (Shensuo, 肾缩), caused by cold invasion, is treated with three qian each of *Sulfur* (Liuhuang, 硫黄) and *Evodiae Fructus* (Wuyu, 吴萸), ground into extremely fine powder. Mix with juice extracted from scallions, and apply to the umbilicus and abdomen. Meanwhile, fumigate with smoke from burning *Cnidii Fructus* (Chuanshuizi, 蛇床子) to restore extension.
Absence of the anus (Wugudao, 无谷道), resulting from lung heat blocking the anal opening, requires immediate puncture using a silver hairpin or five-pronged silver pin at the precise location. Alternatively, use a hot needle to puncture, ensuring not to insert deeply. Immediately cover with an oil-paper wick to prevent re-closure.
Newborns unable to suckle milk: Use nineteen black soybeans (*Soyae Semen Nigrum*, 黑豆), seven segments of *Imperatae Rhizoma* (Maocaogen, 茅草根) with each segment about one cun long, one piece of red gold vessel, and one piece of patterned silver vessel. Decoct in one cup of human milk until reduced to half a fen volume. After consumption, the infant will be able to nurse.
Newborns refusing milk, or those tightly swaddled like "scissor legs" preventing feeding: Apply thin slices of single-head garlic to both cheeks and moxa them. [Text cuts off]
Newborns unable to urinate: Chop one white part of scallion (*Scallionis Bulbus*, 葱白), decoct with half a cup of human milk. Remove the scallion, divide the milk into four doses for administration; urination will resume. [Text cuts off regarding suckling]
For obstruction of both stool and urine: Urgently have a woman rinse her mouth with hot water and suckle the infant’s anterior chest, posterior back, and area below the umbilicus several times until patency is restored.
Decoct tender branches of mulberry, locust, elm, willow, and peach trees (20-30 segments each). Bathe the infant in the warm decoction to prevent sores and scabies, and to ward off evil influences.
Closed eyes or bleeding/swelling: Roast licorice root (*Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*, 甘草) dipped in pig bile, grind into extremely fine powder, and mix with milk for oral administration. Another prescription: One qian each of *Mulbai Folium* (Sangye, 桑叶) and *Chrysanthemi Indici Flos* (Baijuhua, 白菊花)... [Text cuts off]
Infants with spleen cold: Crying stops upon abdominal pressure but resumes when hands are removed; accompanied by cyanotic face, cold hands, and refusal to nurse. Treat with five fen each of *Cinnamomi Cortex* (Rougui, 肉桂) and *Foeniculi Fructus* (Xiaohui, 小茴), and one qian each of *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui, 当归) and *Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum* (Paojiang, 炮姜). For night crying: Grind five flower heads of lamp wicks (*Denghua*, 灯花) into powder, apply to the nipple, and let the infant suckle for cure. If lamp flowers are unavailable, burn rush pith (*Junci Medulla*, 灯草) to ash, mix with a small amount of washed *Cinnabar* (Chensha, 辰砂), apply to the breast for the infant to suckle—also effective. Another prescription: One qian of extremely fine *Pharbitidis Semen* (Qianniuizi, 牵牛子) applied to the umbilicus stops crying. Another: Apply chicken manure to the infant's umbilicus (hen manure for boys, rooster manure for girls). Another: Grind *Astringent Galla* (Wubeizi, 五倍子) into powder, mix with saliva to form a cake, apply to the umbilicus and secure with a bandage—effective. Another: Roast fourteen cicada sloughs (*Cicadae Periostracum*, 蝉壳) after removing wings and legs, taking the lower half. Mix with eight li of *Cinnabar* (Zhusha, 朱砂), grind fine, mix with honey, and apply to the nipple for the infant to suckle; placing it directly in the infant's mouth is also acceptable. Another: For night crying due to mouth heat and redness, sift *Indigo Naturalis* (Qingdai, 青黛), use two fen, decoct ten pieces of rush pith (*Junci Medulla*, 灯芯) in water, and mix for administration. Also: Burn two li of parents' fingernails to ash, decoct with two qian of green onion roots, and administer the water—effective.
Daochi San (Guide Out Red Powder) treats heat in the Heart channel, manifesting as red face and mouth, all types of restless crying and discomfort, as well as urinary obstruction; it is effective for these conditions.
*Rehmanniae Radix Preparata* (Shengdi, 生地) (two qian)
*Akebiae Caulis* (Mutong, 木通) (one and a half qian)
*Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin, 黄芩) (one qian)
*Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Shengfengcao, 生粉草) (five fen)
*Lophatheri Herba* (Danzhuye, 淡竹叶) (fourteen leaves)
*Rush Pith* (Dengxin, 灯芯) (ten pieces)
