(From *Jin Gui Yao Lue*) Treats heart pain radiating to the back, and back pain radiating to the heart region.
Chishizhi (Calcined Red Clay), Shujiao (Sichuan Pepper), Wutou (Prepared Aconite Root), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root), Ganjiang (Prepared Dried Ginger, half tael). Make into honey pills. Take three times a day. If ineffective, increase the dosage appropriately.
This is due to Yin-cold Qi reversing and rushing upward, obstructing horizontally between the meridians of the chest and back, causing牵连 (referred) pain, disturbing the circulation of Qi and Blood, and blocking the flow of vital energy.
If this condition is not treated promptly, it may lead to severe obstruction in the chest.
Treats deficiency-cold of the Spleen and Stomach, accompanied by vomiting, diarrhea, and dampness.
Renshen (Ginseng Root), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, stir-fried until yellow), Baizhu (Atractylodes Rhizome), Fuling (Poria), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried). Add Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), named Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction).
Note: This formula is a variation of Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) and Wuwei Yigong San (Five-Ingredient Efficacy-Promoting Powder).
Treats diarrhea and dysentery caused by old or new cold accumulations.
Muxiang (Costus Root), Roudoukou (Nutmeg), Dingxiang (Clove), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, prepared), Baixiaoshuang (Soot from Burning Straw), Xingren (Apricot Seed, peeled and tip removed), Badou (Croton Seed, shelled, melted...).
Roudoukou dispels cold, aids digestion, descends Qi, and harmonizes the middle; Dingxiang warms the Stomach, assists Yang, unblocks stagnation, and eliminates masses; Muxiang regulates the ascending and descending of Qi, harmonizes the Spleen, and soothes the Liver; Xingren descends Qi...
It does not merely cause diarrhea but facilitates the natural digestion of accumulations. Li Shizhen stated: A woman over sixty years old suffered from loose stools for five years; pain would occur immediately upon consuming raw, cold, greasy, or meaty foods. After taking ascending and astringent medicines, her diarrhea worsened, and her pulse was deep and slippery. This was due to long-term injury to the Spleen and Stomach, with cold accumulation and stagnation. The treatment method should be to purge using hot-natured drugs. Use fifty pills of Badou made in the twelfth lunar month...
(From *Jin Gui Yao Lue*) Treats heart pain caused by chronic cold, and also sudden onset of evil pathogens, abdominal distension and pain, inability to speak. It also treats chronic cold accumulation flowing into the chest and heart causing pain, as well as cold swelling, rebellious Qi, and blood disorders resulting from falls from horses or carts.
Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root), Shengye Langya (Raw Wild Wolf's Tooth Herb, roasted until fragrant), Badou (Croton Seed, peeled, heart and membrane removed, ground), Renshen (Ginseng Root), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit). Refine honey to make pills, size of tung tree seeds...
Zhang Zhongjing, after discussing the syndrome of Chest Bi (Thoracic Obstruction), appended Jiutong Wan (Nine Pain Pill) to treat heart pain caused by chronic cold. Because this pathogen has lingered for a long time, it differs from acute diseases; therefore, the medication is more potent. Changing from decoction to pill form...
