(From *Jin Gui Yao Lue*) Treats persistent vomiting during pregnancy.
Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Renshen (Codonopsis Ginseng, 1 liang), Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome, 2 liang). Grind the herbs into fine powder, mix with fresh ginger juice to form pills, sized like wu-tong seeds. Take ten pills per dose, three times daily.
"All types of vomiting and acid regurgitation belong to Fire." This refers to cases where stomach qi is turbid, causing temporary vomiting. If vomiting persists throughout pregnancy, it is due to cold, projecting upwards...
Treats vomiting during pregnancy with inability to retain food. (Ezu syndrome involves vomiting upon smelling food, attributed to Spleen deficiency; Vomiting involves regurgitation after ingestion, attributed to Fire. All rebellious qi rushing upward belongs to Fire. This occurs because the blood of the Jueyin channel nourishes the fetus, while the fire of Shaoyang is deficient and rebels upward.)
Chenpi (Citrus Peel), Zhuru (Bamboo Shavings), Renshen (Codonopsis Ginseng), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 18 zhu), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger, 1 liang), Houpo (Magnolia Bark, 18 zhu).
Zhuru can pacify the Shaoyang fire, and Houpo can direct rebellious qi downward. Chenpi and Shengjiang open the stomach appetite. Renshen and Baizhu tonify the Spleen qi, aiming to open the stomach and tonify the Spleen...
Treats Ezu syndrome during pregnancy. (Ezu refers to nausea that obstructs diet. This arises because qi and blood in the lower jiao are insufficient, stealing qi from the Spleen and Stomach to secure and nourish the fetal origin. Thus, the Spleen and Stomach become weak internally; upon sensing the aroma of grain, nausea and obstruction occur.)
Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger, 30 zhu), Dihuang (Rehmannia Root, 18 zhu), Xuanfuhua (Inula Flower), Baishao (White Peony Root), Renshen (Codonopsis Ginseng), Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Xixin (Asarum Root), Chenpi (Citrus Peel), Gancao (Licorice Root).
Banxia and Shengjiang open the stomach and awaken the Spleen. Dihuang, Xiong, and Baishao nourish yin and benefit blood. Renshen and Gancao harmonize the middle jiao and boost qi. Chenpi and Jiegeng...
(From *Liang Fang*) Treats convulsions and restless fetus. (Convulsions refer to twitching and pulling of the limbs. Heat belongs to Yang, Wind governs movement; this pathology involves Liver Wind and Ministerial Fire.) Gouteng (Uncaria Ramulus cum Uncis), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Radix), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Renshen (Codonopsis Ginseng, 2 qian), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root, 1.5 qian), Sangjisheng (Taxillus Branches, 0.5 fen). Add Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root), and Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) for Wind-Heat patterns.
The sweet and cold nature of Gouteng clears Heart heat and disperses Liver Wind. The acrid and cool nature of Chaihu and Jiegeng, along with the bitter and cold nature of Huangqin and Zhizi, pacify Wind in the Shaoyang and Jueyin channels.
