Treats cold lao (consumptive disease due to cold), exhaustion of Qi and Blood, emaciation with tooth loss, limb fatigue, and faint voice. (Wu Hegao said: In the human body, there exists a True Fire.
This fire resides in the Kidney, circulates through the San Jiao (Triple Burner), enters and exits the Gallbladder channel, and obeys the command of the Heart-Mind (Tian Jun). Thus, it warms the entire skeleton, nourishes the Zang-Fu organs, and fills the nine orifices; all are due to this fire.
It is the father of all things. Therefore it is said: Without this fire, Heaven cannot generate life. Without this fire, humans cannot maintain life. If this fire ceases for even a breath, it is like all things losing their father;
then the flesh will weaken and become emaciated, the blood will weaken and become dry, the bones will weaken and teeth fall out, the sinews will weaken and limbs become fatigued, and the Qi will weaken and speech become faint.)
Shi Liu Huang (Mineral Sulfur) one jin, Zhu Da Chang (Pig Large Intestine) two chi long. Grind the Sulfur into powder, put it into the pig intestine, boil until thoroughly cooked for three shi (6 hours), take out, remove the intestine, and mix with steamed bread dough to make pills.
Sulfur is the essence of Fire, also known as the General. (Da Huang (Rhubarb Rhizome) is extremely cold, also known as the General.) Therefore, it is used to tonify the Fire (Ming Men Fire). Because it is extremely hot and toxic,
it must be processed carefully to mitigate its toxicity.
