(Li Dongyuan) Treats the condition where Lung Metal is invaded by Damp-Heat pathogenic factors. Symptoms include flaccidity syndrome (Wei Syndrome), panting and shortness of breath, chest fullness, poor appetite, pale complexion with brittle hair, dizziness, heavy body, generalized body pain, limb fatigue, thirst, and constipation. (The Classic says: The Lung is the official of transmission, from which governance and regulation arise. When Fire is excessive and overacts on Metal, it causes Lung Heat and scorched leaves; Qi loses its master, thereby losing its governance and regulation. Thus, limbs may become either flaccid or contracted, resulting in Wei Syndrome. When Fire qi rebels upward to invade the Lung, there is panting and shortness of breath. The Lung governs the skin and hair, hence the pale complexion and brittle hair. When Damp-Heat fills the diaphragm, there is chest fullness. When it obstructs the Yangming channel, food intake decreases. When it rises to the head, there is dizziness. When it pours into the body, there is heaviness. When it flows into the joints, there is generalized body pain. When the Lung is injured by Fire, Heaven Qi cannot descend, and the Bladder loses its source of transformation, leading to thirst and dark urine.)
Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 1.5 qian) Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, stir-fried, 1 qian) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, stir-fried) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 0.5 qian) Renshen (Ginseng Radix) Fuling (Poria) Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 0.3 qian) Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 0.2 qian) Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 0.1 qian)
The Lung belongs to Xin Metal and governs Qi; the Large Intestine belongs to Geng Metal and governs Jin Ye (Body Fluids). When Dry Metal is invaded by Damp-Heat, the source of transformation for Cold Water (Bladder) is cut off. (Liu Hejian) Treats cold damage complicated by summerheat, heat in both interior and exterior, irritability, thirst, dysuria, dysentery, hot malaria, cholera with vomiting and diarrhea, promoting lactation, inducing abortion, resolving alcohol heat and toxins, primarily treating Stone Lin (calculi). (Summerheat and Heat are all Yang pathogens. In the exterior, they cause fever; in the interior, dysentery and cholera; in the upper jiao, irritability and thirst; in the lower jiao, constipation or hot diarrhea. Fire qi scalds and boils, condensing essence into stones, thus forming Stone Lin.)
Huashi (Talcum, 6 liang) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang) Grind into powder, take with cold water or Jiaxin Tang (Nymphaeae Semen decoction). (Zhu Danxi said: For diarrhea and vomiting, take with Shengjiang Tang (Zingiberis Rhizoma decoction).)
