(See the formula in Volume 7, Upper Section, "Summerheat Relief" category) Formula with Xiangru (Moslae Herba): For patients who originally have Yin deficiency, and then suddenly collapse and fall into unconsciousness due to hunger, fatigue, and exhaustion while traveling in summer heat, this formula is indicated.
(If a patient originally has Yin deficiency, Yang will be solitary and dominant. If they encounter summer heat, Yang is prone to hyperactivity. Added to this are hunger, fatigue, and exhaustion, which further deplete Yin. Therefore, sudden collapse and unconsciousness occur for two reasons: first, Yin deficiency leads to the departure of solitary Yang; second, Summerheat pathogen takes advantage of the deficiency to invade the mansion of the Spirit [Shen].)
Use Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) to tonify primal Qi and secure the departure [of Yang]; use Xiangru (Moslae Herba) to repel pathogens and dispel summerheat. The cooling nature of Maimai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix) supports the Lung, which is too weak to withstand [the heat]. The sour taste of Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) astringes...

For both men and women who die during sexual intercourse, it is called "Yang Collapse" in men and "Yin Collapse" in women. Even if a man dies, his penis remains erect and does not flaccid; even if a woman dies, her vagina remains open and does not close. Both conditions are incurable. (If the bodies of the man and woman have not separated, and they can hold each other tightly, exchanging breath mouth-to-mouth, allowing warmth and airflow to restore respiration, survival is possible. However, due to panic and haste at the time, proper handling was unknown, so most died.) There are also cases of death from nocturnal emission in dreams; in these cases, the penis must be erect, and the vagina loose. There may be a look of pleasure on the face, which serves as a distinguishing sign. All such cases are considered untreatable.
Do not cut the rope. Instead, urgently wrap clothes around your hands, tightly plug the anus, lift the body, untie the rope, and place the person flat and upright. Pull the hair upward, rub the marks on the neck, and manipulate the trachea. Step on both shoulders, blow air into the ears through two tubes, or pierce the rooster comb to obtain fresh blood and drip it into the mouth. Use a female rescuer for a male victim, and a male rescuer for a female victim. [Note: Text contains errors/corruptions here, e.g., "Ji guan", "Rong you xi se"]. If breath returns, flex and extend their limbs, and massage them with hands. If breath does not return, strike the waist three or four times, or insufflate powder made from Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus) into the nose. Even if discovered in the morning and the body is still cold, revival is still possible.
Urgently invert the drowning person to remove water. Use one cow, let it lie horizontally, place the victim's abdomen against the cow's back, lead the cow to walk slowly, causing the victim to vomit the water in their stomach. Rub the teeth with old ginger (Shengjiang), and the person will revive. For those with clenched jaws, pry them open, place a chopstick horizontally between the teeth to allow water to drain. If no cow is available, place a pot upside down on the ground, position the victim prone with the umbilicus facing the bottom of the pot. Support the head with hands; once water flows out, the person will revive. Alternatively, place the victim prone on a stool with feet slightly elevated, rub salt into the umbilicus, and wait for water to flow out naturally. Or, wrap Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus) powder in cotton and insert it into the lower orifice (anus); once water flows out, the person will revive. Strictly avoid using fire to dry/warm, as this forces cold inward, leading to untreatable conditions.
