The acupoint is Bailao (Bailing, GV14), located on the first thoracic vertebra. When the golden needle is inserted, the root of the disease is eliminated.
Bailao: Located above the spinous process of the first thoracic vertebra on the back. Needle 0.3 cun, moxa 14 cones (2 × 7), reducing method. Corresponds to Feishu (BL13).
Stiffness and pain in the spine should be treated by reducing Shuigong (GV26); sprain and strain causing lower back pain can also be needled.
Weizhong (BL40) is also an acupoint for lower back pain; you may choose either one as their effects are interchangeable.
Shuigong: Also known as Renzhong (GV26), located in the depression at the upper third of the philtrum. Needle 0.3 cun, obliquely upward, reduce only without tonifying, moxa 7 cones.
Weizhong: Located in the center of the popliteal crease where the artery pulses. Needle 1 cun; healing occurs when bloodletting is performed.
Weakness or numbness in the wrist, soreness in the fingers making it difficult to grasp objects.
If the Wanggu (SI4) acupoint is needled, the effect is truly miraculous; this point deserves careful attention.
Wanggu: Located in the depression anterior to the styloid process of the ulna on the radial side of the wrist? No, on the ulnar side? The text says "wrist starting bone front depression", typically referring to the depression anterior to the pisiform/styloid area on the ulnar side for SI4. Flip the hand to locate. Needle 0.3 cun, moxa 14 cones, reducing method. For hand numbness, use tonifying method; moxibustion is applicable.
Pain connecting the arm and wrist is clarified by needling Yemen (TE2).
Another point named Zhongzhu (TE3) is effective; apply reducing frequently and avoid tonifying to alleviate the disease.
Yemen: Located distal to the interphalangeal joint between the little finger and the ring finger. Needle 0.1 cun, subcutaneously posteriorly penetrating to Yangchi (TE4), reducing method.
Zhongzhu: Located in the gap between the metacarpal bones of the little and ring fingers, proximal to the interphalangeal joint. Needle 0.1 cun, subcutaneously posteriorly penetrating to Wanggu (SI4), reducing method.
Continuous months of deficiency-induced irritability with a ruddy complexion like makeup, and severe fright in the heart are hard to bear.
Tongli (HT5), the Yuan-Source point of the Heart meridian, is a truly miraculous acupoint; a single insertion of the divine needle brings health.
Tongli: Located on the ulnar side of the wrist, 1 cun proximal to the ulnar styloid process. Perpendicular needle 0.5 cun, reducing method, moxibustion is prohibited.
Gas masses in the abdomen are most difficult to treat; one must use the golden needle to puncture Neiguan (PC6).
As the meeting point of the Yin Linking Vessel among the Eight Confluent Points, it is excellent; various abdominal diseases can be resolved safely.
Neiguan: Located 2 cun proximal to the transverse crease of the wrist, between the two tendons. Perpendicular needle, penetrating Waiguan (TE5), tonify first then reduce. Named as the Yin Linking point, moxibustion is prohibited. Corresponds to the preceding text.
Abdominal pain is hardest to endure; Tailing (PC7) and Waiguan (TE5) should be needled.
If abdominal pain is accompanied by constipation, the extraordinary point Zhigou (TE6) ensures safety.
Waiguan: Located 2 cun proximal to the dorsal wrist crease on the radius. Perpendicular needle penetrating Neiguan (PC6), tonify first then reduce, moxa 7 cones. Tailing is seen in the previous section.
Zhigou: Located 3 cun proximal to the dorsal wrist crease, opposite Jianshi (PC5). Needle 0.3 cun, penetrating Jianshi (PC5), moxa 7 cones. Jianshi is seen in the Malaria section below.
