Pain in both scapulae with Qi attacking the chest,
The Jianjing (GB21) acupoint is most effective.
This point is where True Qi gathers;
In needling, employ more reducing than reinforcing methods.
Jianjing (GB21): Located at the apex of the shoulder, at the end of the Quepen (ST12) depression. Needle straight to a depth of 1.5 cun and stop manipulating. This point gathers the True Qi of the five Zang organs; it is not suitable for reinforcing, nor for prolonged retention of the needle.
For individuals with Qi deficiency who experience dizziness and confusion, urgently reduce the Zusanli (ST36) point, and also utilize the Zhigou (SJ6) point.
Wind invading the shoulder and arm, causing pain extending to the back,
Needling the crease between the scapulae yields miraculous efficacy.
Wushu (GB29) originally treats lower back pain;
Once the point is accurately located, the disease quickly alleviates.
Wushu (GB29): Located at the tip of the direct crease below the lateral aspect of the hip/pelvis (Note: Textual error "arm" likely refers to lateral trunk/hip region). Needle to a depth of 2.5 cun, moxa for 14 moxibustions (two sevens), applying reinforcing or reducing methods according to excess or deficiency patterns.
For those emaciated and weak, there is the Gaohuang (BL43) point;
This method has always required precise measurement.
As a forbidden point for needling, only moxibustion is appropriate;
Even one thousand moxibustion sessions are harmless.
Gaohuang (BL43): Located on the back, below the spinous process of the fourth thoracic vertebra (T4) and above that of the fifth thoracic vertebra (T5), within the space of the fourth intercostal space, three cun lateral to the midline on each side. Use a bamboo rod to spread the arms wide, revealing the depression of the point.
For the elderly who are weak and suffer from frequent urination,
And rise frequently at night, what should be done?
Needle the Mingmen (GV4) point, a wonderful acupoint for assistance;
Apply moxibustion to Shenshu (BL23) to harmonize the disease.
Mingmen (GV4): Located on the back, below the spinous process of the fourteenth thoracic vertebra (T14/L1 junction), level with the umbilicus. Moxa for 14 moxibustions. Needling is prohibited; if needled, the condition worsens. Reinforcing is suitable, reducing is not.
Shenshu (BL23): Located one and a half cun lateral to either side of Mingmen (GV4). The moxibustion method follows the previous description, as does the needling method.
Gallbladder cold first manifests as fear and palpitations,
White turbidity and spermatorrhea are bitter and uncontrollable pains.
For nocturnal emissions involving dream intercourse, reduce Xinshu (BL15);
Baihuan shu (BL30) is needled in the same manner.
Xinshu (BL15): Located one and a half cun lateral to the spinous process of the fifth thoracic vertebra (T5), oblique insertion along the skin outward for 1.5 cun. Moxa for seven moxibustions, do not exceed this amount; reinforce first then reduce, and avoid excessive moxibustion.
Baihuan shu (BL30): Located one and a half cun lateral to the spinous process of the twenty-first vertebra (S1). Straight needle to a depth of 1.5 cun, moxa for fifty moxibustions. For nocturnal emissions and leukorrhea in women, reinforcing is suitable.
Transmitted corpse consumption (Lao Bing/Tuberculosis) is hardest to treat,
Do not doubt the Yongquan (KI1) point.
If phlegm is abundant, apply reducing method to Fenglong (ST40);
For wheezing and asthma, Dantian (CV4) can also be utilized.
Yongquan (KI1): Located in the center of the sole, in the depression when the foot is flexed, midway between the second and third toes and the heel. Straight needle to a depth of 0.3 cun. For consumption due to cold damage, treatment is possible if blood is present, but dangerous if absent. Reinforce first, then reduce.
Dantian (CV4): Located three cun below the umbilicus. Needle to a depth of 0.8 cun, with reinforcing exceeding reducing; may be moxa for one hundred moxibustions. Fenglong (ST40) is described previously.
