Treatment for contusions, injuries, and fractures, this prescription was transmitted by a monk from Lingquan Qingyin Temple in Haoliang.
Take ancient coins of half-tael weight, the quantity is not restricted. String them with an iron wire, place them in an iron box, and heat them red-hot over charcoal fire. Prepare a bowl of good wine and half a sheng of rice vinegar. Open the iron box clamp, take the ancient coins and quench them in the wine and vinegar mixture. Repeat the quenching process until all rust and impurities fall off. If the wine or vinegar decreases, add more. Continue until all ancient coins are quenched. Clarify and discard the wine and vinegar. Wash with warm water. Repeat this washing process three times; the more times washed, the better. If the "fire poison" is not completely removed, it may cause aphonia (loss of voice). Once clean, dry them by baking, grind into an extremely fine powder, and add frankincense (Ruxiang), myrrh (Moyao), and leech (Shuizhi) in equal proportions. Grind them together into a fine powder. Each dose is half a zi or one zi. First, mix the medicine with fresh ginger juice, then swallow with warm wine while lying flat. If there is no fracture, the patient will vomit immediately after taking the medicine. If there is a fracture, the medicine passes directly down, and the excrement will show thread-like structures resembling gold silk or arrows on a bowstring. This is highly effective. Originally, this was the prescription.
Another bone-setting powder formula.
Take ancient half-tael coins, heat them with fire, and quench them multiple times in vinegar. Add myrrh and frankincense in equal proportions, and grind them together separately. Take a small amount of musk (Shexiang). Each dose is one zi, taken with light ginger soup. The time of administration is unrestricted.
For patients with severe injuries who are in critical condition, use wumingyi (a small stone, yellow outside and black inside, widely available, produced in Nengshan of Daye County and Sanzhou of Yingzhou). Take three to five pieces, grind them finely, chop raw green onion (Congbai) finely, mix with warm wine to prepare the medicine. After taking the medicine, drink half a cup of warm wine to assist the effect. If the injury is on the head, remove the pillow and lie supine. Wu Neihan first obtained this prescription when his niece fell against a door threshold, injuring her brain and crying out in pain. He tried giving her this medicine, and the pain stopped immediately. Another person fell from a great height causing severe injury; after taking more than ten pieces of wumingyi and drinking one to two sheng of wine, the illness was cured. Later, using it to save others proved universally effective.
Another method involves drinking urine, enema with urine, or mixing urine with wine for oral administration. Xu Maoyun, a physician from Shu, frequently revived the dying using this method.
Treating all types of contusions and injuries, tendon damage, and bone fractures. Zhao Shugong, courtesy name Gongyin, of the imperial clan, was famous for his skill in hammering iron. When his father was the magistrate of Sheng County, clansmen gathered for drinks at Chaohua Temple. One person fell drunk from a cliff. Upon immediate examination, he was unconscious with a fractured arm. After being carried back, these two medicines were used for treatment, and he recovered, resuming his iron-hammering work as before. Zhao Shugong once administered the Danning Jian, and this case was transmitted by Han Xidao, the prefect.
Wulingzhi (Pantotaxus Faecalis, ground separately) Chuan Wutou (Aconiti Radix, skin and umbilicus removed, used raw) Moyao (Myrrha, ground separately) Cao Wutou (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, skin and umbilicus removed, used raw, each four liang) Dijiaoxiang (Larix Resina, one liang, along with the above four ingredients)
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Each dose is one zi, taken with warm wine. It can also be made into pills the size of paulownia seeds, adjusting the dosage from small to large as needed. If the injury is above the waist, take after meals...
